A Way of Life

I have been plant-based for over 20 years, so it became more and more difficult to not bring this way of living into my work—long before most people understood it. Everyone thought I was crazy at the time, but it’s become totally mainstream.

Seasonally Crafted

I don’t know if I can choose one of my restaurants as a favorite, as I love them all so much. I suppose, however, I would have to say Plant Food + Wine in Venice is amazing. Everything from the food to the atmosphere is perfect.

“What we do at MKC has a massive global impact. With restaurants around the world, a culinary academy and several products and partnerships, I feel that we are able to truly make a difference and create a more sustainable, plant-based future.”

Dining Downtown

My favorite restaurant to go to has been Damien—Enrique Olvera’s restaurant in DTLA. When I go, I order literally everything on the menu that is vegan, including the celery root, which I love.

My favorite place to go for a quick getaway is the Viceroy in Cabo. I love the design—I work best in a clean, modern space, and the food is great. I go on a working getaway: rest, relax and catch up on sleep and work.

Best Bites in the World

My favorite restaurant changes depending on my tastes and the seasons, but I really love Cosme in New York City right now (located in the Flatiron District). This sleek Mexican spot features a big bar, shareable plates and some amazing tequila and mezcal cocktails.

Exciting Things to Come

I’m really looking forward to so much in 2022, as we are launching new products and partnerships worldwide. Locally, we are opening a third location of Sestina as well as a Latin-American concept called Oleada Cocina.
