A.J. Woodruff and Matt Fullum of Respect The Chief

“We are originally from New York City. We definitely wanted a change of pace and loved the idea of being in a small town. Although I had lived in Los Angeles prior to moving to New York, neither of us had ever been to Palm Springs, and we didn’t really know too much about the city before moving. We ultimately decided to buy a house, sight unseen, and took the plunge into a new life! Since we’ve been here, we have completely fallen in love with everything the city has to offer, and we love being surrounded by mountains and nature. We had no plans of opening a store, but fell into it by chance. Our store is a representation of our journey, and the amazing things that inspire us everyday.  Everything is a little unexpected and sometimes random, much like our lives!” — A.J. Woodruff

Yesterday we had the pleasure of meeting Cyrielle & Julien who own and operate @riadjardinsecret. Cyrielle (also a photographer she took this portrait of us!) & Julien were the height of gracious & welcoming in a space they have designed in such a truly magical way. The entirely carved walls of the interior courtyard are breathtaking and remind of the old world brilliance & patience of Moroccan design. Many curiosities are at every turn, delightful details in corners & nooks, a pink terrace, fresh vegetarian food, a charming rescue dog, 2 turtles, birds chirping.. need we say more?! Not surprisingly, we did not get to visit any of the guest suites as the riad was fully booked. So we’ll just have to book ourselves in one day soon and continue the marvelous journey! Many photos to follow in stories..🌸💕 📸 @cyrielle__rigot
