These Boutique Owners Have the Market Cornered on Eclectic Finds and Exciting Fashion

Written By: Traci Carter Holsey Manhattan Beach Boutiques

Sitting Southwest of Los Angeles County, Manhattan Beach is one of the three Beach Cities that make up the South Bay. This collection of quiet street walks and oceanfront homes spans the Pacific Coast. Along with some of the priciest real estate in the United States, it is a burgeoning hot spot to score eclectic fashion and home goods curated from artisans and designers both local and abroad. In our recent poll, readers voted for their favorite boutique owners in the area:

Manhattan Beach Boutiques

Lenora Marouani of The Souk

Q: How would you describe The Souk and your most popular items?

Lenora Marouani: It’s definitely a worldly experience. For people who haven’t been to the Middle East, it’s a breath of fresh air. People like the tribal patterns like our Berber style, the indigenous people of Tunisia. Our pom pom blanket is one of our most requested items.

Q: Describe the typical Souk customer.

LM: The Souk customer is usually well traveled and wants that worldly feel in their home. They want it to feel lived in. They range from beachy to eclectic.

Q: What is your mission as a business owner in Manhattan Beach?

LM: Part of our mission is global recognition of the women we work with in Tunisia. Five percent of our proceeds go to women weavers. I want to empower women entrepreneurs.

Q: What is the inspiration behind DACHA?

Q: What goals do you have to grow your business?

LA: In the beginning of 2017 our main focus was the brick and mortar store. Now I’m able to grow my interior design business.

Kat Master of Katwalk

Kat Master: Our store is very accessible. We have a family that’s been coming in together for years and everyone from the 85-year-old grandmother to the 25-year-old granddaughter leave with something.

Q: What is your favorite item?

KM: Prints from the ‘90s are back but with cuter cuts. I really love the jumpsuits as well.

Q: How does it feel to be voted one of Manhattan Beach’s favorite boutique owners?

KM: It’s awesome. We’ve been doing our beachy Boho Friday night chic in this location since 2003. It used to be a hidden community, but not anymore.

Lori Ford of Gum Tree

Q: How does it feel to be voted on of Manhattan Beach’s favorite boutique owners?

Lori Ford: It feels amazing to have support from the local community. It’s fun that other people love what I do.

Q: Why do you think your client base is so faithful to your brand?

LF: When they walk in, they say it feels like the East Coast or New England. People can sit on the couch and order anything they want online, but the people of Manhattan Beach really care about shopping local and supporting local.

Q: What is the inspiration for your boutique?

LF: I’m constantly looking for new and interesting products. Sometimes I go abroad. My next buying trip is to Marrakech in Morocco.
