Ready, set, go! Grab your girl gang, grab your BFF or grab your bae and go paint the town red (or your hair for that matter). Love is in the hair as V-day is among us and Cupid hit the bullseye at Waylon Salon. The high-end boutique in La Jolla sits pretty in the in the heart of Bird Rock with its talented tribe of hair designers who will have your tresses drippin’ in finesse and feelin’ fine in no time. Salon in La Jolla
Owner and stylist, Alli Hayes is a seasoned beautician who’s been doing hair since age 17. “I’ve been doing hair in La Jolla for most of my career. I eventually opened the salon in November 2016 and saw myself going in the direction of offering the best hair and the best quality. There are a lot beautiful salons and good hairdressers but I’m more relaxed and relatable than the average,” she said. “I don’t want anyone to not feel welcomed. Clients will be greeted in a comfortable environment and in a beautiful setting.”
Alli and her extremely skilled team will show some serious love to your locks if you let them. “They all come with at least 6-7 years of experience. They are all so talented and I’m really lucky and blown away by them,” she says.
If you’re a first timer to the salon, there’s an extra excuse to treat yourself. “We offer deep hair conditioning, a Kérastase Fusio Dose treatment worth $40.” How’s that for a Valentine’s Day treat?
Hands down Alli says the salon’s strong points are crafting amazing colors, cuts and extensions. Services also include hair painting, “a fancy term for highlighting”, a bombshell blowout and “vivid coloring” should you want to channel those pastel or rainbow vibes. For a lighter, platinum mane, Alli is your go-to girl and specialist for blonde hair, don’t care.
Alli hopes to eventually expand with a second location in North County. “I have a lot of clients that come from Orange County and LA,” she adds.
It may be cliché but let’s be honest, great hair doesn’t happen by chance, it happens by appointment. Good thing the salon is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays for you to slay your weekend.
Native Knowledge: The salon also has a small boutique in store. You can go from your blow out to buying gifts for your Valentine, all in one sitting. The salon offers jewelry, skin care products, body scrubs and candles from local San Diegan sellers such as Hand Meets Sky, Beaute Nouveau and Craft + Foster.
