3 Must-Have Tips to Enjoy and Last the Whole Day and Night

Written By Guest Blogger: Megan Waters of Water Tree Events Wedding Day Feet

You wedding day is going to be an amazing day but also along day.   To put it in perspective, as a professional wedding videographer in Orange County and Los Angeles my team and I on average each do 15, 000 to 20, 000 steps per wedding while capturing with our couples.

This means our couples are probably stepping anywhere from 8, 000 to 10, 000 steps on their wedding day depending on how large a wedding venue they selected.

Believe it our not you will spend a lot of time on your feet on your wedding day.

It’s not just the walk down the aisle that’s the easy part for your feet!   Now add…. the photos around the venue, the lining up for the grand entrance, first dance, table visits, parent dances, trips to the bar before you even get to the partying and dancing.

The shoes you choose for your wedding day will have a huge impact on your smile, attitude, energy level and enjoyment of your day and wedding night!   Trust me I have seen it!     They say, “Happy wife equals happy life”.   Well, I say “Happy feet make happy brides”.  Think about it…do you want to walk 10, 000 steps in stilettos?
I know it seems kind of strange that the wedding videographer is advising to you about your wedding day shoes. But my job is to be vigilant, observe and be ready to capture all your amazing moments in sound and picture.   Through my lens I see every detail and see when the radiant smile turns to a faces of enduring pain with a teeth gritting grin.   I would like to impart my extensive experience and witness to the shoe choice a bride makes. This advice also extends to your wedding party.

I fully agree you should have a beautiful pair of wedding shoes.  BUT…. you should only have them on your feet for 3 times through out your wedding day.

  • The moment when you slip them on your feet as you prepare to walk down the aisle. This makes for great photos and video moments.
  • Walking down the aisle. (Technically they only peek out when you walk but it’s the feeling of your wedding out fit complete!
  • Garter Retrieval – Your feet will be on full display when you new spouse slips the garter off you.

I can’t tell you how important it is to wear a comfy pair of shoes at all other times of the day.

There are so many fun options for comfy wedding shoes.   Go ahead and rock some white wedge crocks, sparkly silver wedding flats from Sam Eldeman seem to be a favorite for style and comfort.   Or take it up a notch and go old school with some pure white 80’s high tops.   The point is keep your feet comfortable and supported to really enjoy your wedding day and dance the night away with your new spouse.
