Pinocchio In The Desert is a very popular restaurant that serves up European, Mexican and American cuisine for breakfast and lunch, and brunch on the weekends. They have an outdoor patio in the front where you can enjoy an omelet or a sandwich with your fur baby. “We always give dogs water because it’s so hot and dry in the desert,” says Desiree Hunen-Gerhardt, who owns Pinocchio in the Desert with her husband Friedrich. “We don’t have a pet menu, but people sometimes order a side of eggs or chicken for their dog,” notes Desiree, who has owned Bernese Mountain Dogs for years.

Native Knowledge: Now that you’ve eaten, there are a lot of activities you can do with your furry friend in the Coachella Valley.

  • Take a hike (or short stroll) on the South Lykken Trail, which begins at the western end of Mesquite Avenue.
  • Get around Palm Springs on the Buzz, a colorful trolley car that transports people and their pets around town on a 30-stop loop. It’s free!
  • Go to the Palm Springs Dog Park. It’s located at 222 Civic Drive North and is divided into two areas for large and small dogs.
