1 | Dive-in Movies

What could be better than taking an evening family swim with kid-friendly movies on display? Dive-in Movies take place at Renaissance Esmeralda’s sandy beach pool every Friday and Sunday night from now until Sept. 2. A complimentary experience for hotel guests, dive-in movies are a perfect way to share a weekend evening with the kids. Movies like “Trolls” and “Aladdin” light up the screen with the pool open for a moonlight swim. There’s a special movie-night food and drink menu, too—think nachos, wings, burgers and other fun food for the family. Rent a private beach cabana and arrive early—cabanas are available from 6 to 10 p.m. for up to six people and include water and a fruit platter. Movies start at 8 p.m., which is a perfect hour to show up for prime-time entertainment.

There are few joys greater in life than seeing your kids have fun, and that’s what the summer experiences at Renaissance Esmeralda are all about. On Tuesday and Saturday nights, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., the resort hosts the coolest dance party in the desert. Kids can indulge in an all-you-can-eat dinner buffet specially designed for them—a spread that includes chicken nuggets, salad cups, plenty of fruit and a snow cone station. A dinner and drink menu is also  available for adults. The cover charge is $15 per child (3-12 years old), and adults pay no cover at all. How’s that for a nice surprise? Show up and get down before bedtime!

3 | Summer Pool Activities

Family Vacation Palm Springs

Everyone loves a chilled pool on a sunny day, especially when it’s the central hub of fun-filled activities for the whole family. The sandy beach pool at Renaissance Esmeralda is designed to make kids splash-happy while providing a relaxing space for adults to lean back and rejuvenate. Children can take a refreshment and snack break with unique offerings like snow cones, popcorn and cotton candy machines, or pop by the Popsicle cart for a cold treat before another dip in the pool. Plan your days in advance by reserving a cabana for the whole family, which come with special amenities that’ll make everyone happy: comfy chaise lounges, ceiling fans and more.

While it’s a pleasure to spend time with the family, sometimes parents need to take time for themselves, too. Spa Esmeralda is an idyllic place to do just that, where you’ll find 11 indoor treatment rooms, eight treatment cabanas and one indoor couples’ suite. There are steam rooms and relaxation lounges for both women and men, replete with aromatherapy, bubbling Jacuzzis and garden features. Enter the space and immediately unwind to the sound of cascading water, then settle in for a massage, body treatment or bath ritual. We recommend the Date & Citrus Body Scrub, an exfoliation treatment made with date sugar grown in the Coachella Valley, and the Yuzu Magnesium Bath, a soak intended to promote optimal muscle recovery and deep sleep.

6 | Indian Wells Golf Resort

Featured in Golfweek’s “Top 20 Courses to Play” in California, Indian Wells Golf Resort is the perfect desert experience during a stay at Renaissance Esmeralda. With courses that surround the hotel, the manicured greens and mountain-and-water views are inspiration enough to wake early for a round. The Celebrity Course was designed by Clive Clark and features 18 holes over 7,050 yards, while the Players Course was designed by John Fought and features 18 holes over 7,376 yards. While both are designed for championship swings, we recommend the former for those unafraid of water hazards and the latter for those angling for some friendly yet dynamic bunkering. Regardless of your level of play, this golf resort promises a vast green made for pure sporting fun. The golf resort is also located near the Indian Wells Tennis Gardens, for those who want to double down on playtime.
