Impress Your Significant Other With These 5 Out-of-the-Box Date Ideas in Newport Beach

These Are Guaranteed to Land You a Second Date

Why wait until the weekend for your next date night? Plan a weeknight date and have something exciting to look forward to after a long day at work. Whether you’re looking to impress on a first date or you’re ready to spice things up after one too many nights watching Netflix on the couch, these are the five date ideas you need to experience together.  Date Night Newport Beach

1 | Sunset Cruise  Date Night Newport Beach

Here’s what you do: schedule a day for an Electric Boat Rental, pack a speaker and light snacks (think a small charcuterie board) and get ready to cruise with your date all evening long. Electric Boat Rental makes it easy to explore Newport Beach Harbor, and the process to rent a boat is seamless. Catch the cotton-candy sunset and revel in the fresh bay breeze.

Local Insight: Pull up to a waterfront restaurant and pick up dinner to eat on your boat. Tavern House will bring food and cocktails directly to you! We recommend the coconut-crusted shrimp and a Tavern margarita.

2 | Beach Picnic Date Night Newport Beach

If you want to really impress your lady, surprise her with a beach picnic. There are local companies that will do everything for you from start to finish—or you can plan it yourself! Nothing says romance like watching the sunset at the beach with a glass of wine. Dogs are allowed on the beach during certain hours, so bring your furry friend along for date night—always an icebreaker!

Local Insight: Going to the beach on a weeknight always proves to be significantly less crowded than on a weekend. Take advantage of this, and you’ll have a spot on the beach all to yourself.

3 | Beach Cruisin’ Date Night Newport Beach

Grab your beach cruisers for a long bike ride around Newport Beach. Ride down the boardwalk on the peninsula before crossing the Balboa Ferry (make sure you have a couple dollars on you!). Once you’ve made it to Balboa Island, there’s a handful of local spots for drinks like a Corona Hard Seltzer and light bite—we recommend Snipe Island Crafthouse or 501 Park Avenue Bistro. If you’d rather stay near the ocean, bike down to The Wedge to watch the best waves in town.

4 | Hike With a View

Get a little workout in while also spending quality time together. The El Moro Canyon Loop Trail has stunning views of the ocean. The entire loop is about a five-mile hike, which is just the right amount of intensity to treat yourself to a cold beer after! Head on over to Laguna Beach Beer Company for a Canyon Road Red Ale and Bavarian pretzel to end the day on a hoppy note.

5 | Cozy Up

Spend an evening under the stars, on the sand and with s’mores in hand. Head to the fire pits in Newport Beach or Huntington Beach for a cozy night not in front of the TV. You will need firewood and s’mores materials (naturally!), but don’t forget some warm blankets as well. This date idea is ideal for a little post-dinner surprise that they’ll never see coming!
