Whether you’re craving some alone time or want to indulge your senses in an Ayurvedic treatment, a trip to this state-of-the-art spa is sure to hit the spot. Slip into a plush robe and kick back in the waiting room or on the outdoor patio, where you can soak in the rich history of San Juan Capistrano. The warm aesthetic of the spa is reminiscent of old Spain and draws inspiration from the neighboring Mission San Juan Capistrano. 3 | Displays of Tradition

Featuring a tasteful combination of grand gestures and fine details, Inn at the Mission is the perfect balance of old and new. From the outside, an eye-catching porte cochère frames the lobby entrance, crafted with exposed wood beams and the same stone used in the renovations of the neighboring mission. Step inside and you’ll find a commissioned painting printed on Walker Zanger custom-made tiles, a hand-sculpted swallows inlay, a custom acrylic mural, a collection of historic photographs and more.

Local Insight: Be sure to check out the “mini gallery” of artifacts on loan from the mission in the lobby!

When it’s time to eat, Ysidora Restaurant and Lounge serves up traditional Spanish dishes with a twist—each one is made with regionally sourced ingredients. Feast on tapas like the avocado gazpacho and Patatas Bravas and move on to entrees like the Tomahawk Steak and Grilled Spanish Octopus. But be sure to leave room for something sweet because Ysidora’s postres are out of this world. Think wood-fired s’mores, vegan chocolate cake and apple cinnamon churros!

Local Insight: After you’re done savoring a variety of wood-fired meats, vegetables and delicious tapas, venture out to the Olive Grove for a fireside evening under the twinkling lanterns.

7 | Surrounded by History

Inn at the Mission offers guests a glimpse into the historic traditions of San Juan Capistrano, which date back to the founding of its mission in 1776. Take in views of the neighboring Ruins of the Great Stone Church from one of the luxury suites or from the property’s on-site spa!

8 | California Made

Olive trees can be seen throughout the property, which not only provide shade, but also the resort’s Reverence Private Label EVOO. This custom-blend of olive oil is produced in partnership with California-grown Nuvo Oil. Guests can partake in an olive oil tasting experience at Ysidora Restaurant and Lounge, and you can even purchase a bottle to take home.

Local Insight: Indulge in a signature “el salt real” olive oil body scrub at the spa, which puts the fruits of these beautiful trees’ labor to use!

9 | Somethin’ to Bike About

Guests can check out bikes at the resort, which is a perk that’s included in the hotel destination fee. This is a great way to explore the city of San Juan Capistrano and other nearby destinations like Dana Point Harbor. Hop on a beach cruiser or upgrade to an electric bike for a faster way to get around.
