Modernism is a design style that features simplicity, clean lines, modern materials, open floor plans and a connection with the surrounding landscape. This was the perfect style for the desert environment of Palm Springs while it was being developed in the 1930s-’60s when celebrities from the Los Angeles area enjoyed this desert getaway. Many structures designed by famous architects of the time are preserved, and current designers are maintaining the tradition. Modernism Week is a celebration of this style and features numerous events for visitors to enjoy. Here’s an inside look at five must-do events at Modernism Week’s annual Fall Preview taking place Oct. 14-17!
