Far Corner Brings a Slice of Cool to San Diego’s East Village Dining Scene

This Industrial-Chic Pizza Spot Offers Late-Night Bites and Inventive Drinks Just Blocks From Petco Park

Padres Opening Day in San Diego usually means a hot dog, a beer and maybe a sunburn. But this year, a pizza stole the show. Right before the Padres hit the field, something else sparked buzz—just a block from Petco Park

Meet Far Corner, the newest East Village pizza restaurant that officially opened on March 27. Tucked into a century-old building on 10th Avenue, this hotspot brings new energy to old bones. Far Corner isn’t just opening a restaurant—it’s opening a vibe.

From Airplane Parts to Pizza Parties

This building has stories. Originally built in 1912 for aircraft parts, it now fuels modern survival: pizza and cocktails. Max Senescall and his family—owners for over 40 years—transformed the space with style. Instead of a co-working space with bean bags, they created a community hub.

The 4,000-square-foot space is divided into three unique areas. One is a sunlit, rustic-chic dining room (those Moroccan tiles deserve their own Instagram). Another is a vibey bar with a DJ setup and a booth destined to become yours. The third is a plush lounge with tufted leather seating and your own bartender. It’s industrial nostalgia meets East Village cocktail bar perfection.

Now, let’s talk carbs. This new San Diego restaurant crafts 15-inch pies on dough that rises for 48 hours. You can taste the time. The menu features signature pies, classic pies and a build-your-own dream option.

Some standouts? The Oh Fennel with béchamel, fennel and walnut pesto—which is basically pizza turned poetry—the Almost Too Far with pepperoni, stracciatella, hot honey, basil and parmesan, and the Meat Lovers—a classic done right.

On the other hand, the Eat Your Vegetables made with ricotta and EVOO is perfect for vegetarians. Gluten-free crusts and calzones are also available, and salads like the apple-smoked-egg Cobb add freshness to the menu of this new San Diego restaurant.

Now to the drinks, because no one falls in love over a Diet Coke. This East Village cocktail bar nails the creative twist. The Perennial Buck blends bourbon, ginger, strawberry, fennel, lime, soda and absinthe, while the Dad’s Old Fash—bourbon, root beer, vanilla and sarsaparilla—gives leather jacket energy. Guests can also enjoy local drafts, wine and Boiler Makers.

Far Corner isn’t just another pregame spot—it’s one that you plan your evening around. It fits any vibe: Padres game days, date nights, group dinners, solo slices or second rounds. You might walk in for one drink and leave three hours later—with a new order and someone’s number saved as “Pizza Guy.” It’s cool without trying, and it’s exactly what East Village needed.

Before you root for the home team, stop by Far Corner, where the lights are dim, slices are hot, and cocktails might convince you to call in “sick.”
