This Revitalized Desert Oasis Sports a Fresh Design, New Dining Concepts and a Destination Pool Experience
September marked a new era of luxury for one of Indian Wells’ most iconic resorts. What was formerly the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells & Spa is now a Grand Hyatt property that sports new and inventive dining concepts, an enhanced destination-driven pool experience, and refreshed guest rooms, suites and villas. And we have award-winning, LA-based design studio IndiDesign to thank for this impressive overhaul.
It turns out that $64 million buys a lot. So let’s take a peek, shall we?
Here’s an inside look at the new Grand Hyatt Indian Wells Resort & Villas—from the stunning guest rooms to the cabana-lined pool deck and everything in between.
Guest Rooms, Suites and Villas
While you likely won’t spend too much time in your room at this sprawling resort, the caliber of your living quarters is still important when on vacay. Whether you’re visiting for a family trip or a romantic getaway, Grand Hyatt Indian Wells’ 531 newly renovated guest rooms, suites and villas are as stunning as they come. Rooms start at 550 square feet, complete with spa-like bathrooms and private patios or balconies. For those looking to splurge, the reimagined luxury villas are the ultimate desert escape, offering private backyards with hot tubs or plunge pools, chic artisanal decor and even golf cart escorts around the property. As you unpack your bags, you’ll notice striking design details that draw inspiration from the surrounding desert landscape—think natural hues, wood accents and midcentury modern touches.
A Destination-Driven Pool Experience
Pools are a key part of any desert getaway, and Grand Hyatt Indian Wells’ reimagined pool deck does not disappoint. Featuring new loungers, a smattering of larger cabanas perfect for families, new dining options like Palmadoro’s food truck and a fresh poolside cafe, there’s plenty of ways to relax and refuel. For families, the HyTides Waterpark features nine expansive pools, dueling waterslides and a lazy river, making it the largest water park in Greater Palm Springs. While kids make a splash, adults can kick back and sip on one of the resort’s signature frozen cocktails or take a dip in one of nine temperature-controlled pools.
Dining Concepts by Acclaimed Chef Angelo Sosa
Foodies, rejoice! Grand Hyatt Indian Wells debuted two exciting new dining concepts this summer: Tía Carmen and Carmocha. Helmed by renowned Chef Angelo Sosa, both restaurants promise bold flavors and inventive dishes. Inspired by Sosa’s aunt (Tía Carmen), the flagship restaurant blends local Californian ingredients with traditional Southwestern influences. Paying homage to the beauty of the Southwest’s land and farmers, this elevated concept boasts a menu of avant-garde dishes, including ember-roasted purple yam with aged mole, lamb barbacoa with caviar, yucca brûlée and mushroom menudo.
Meanwhile, just across the lobby, Carmocha will take guests on a global culinary journey with small plates reimagined through the eyes of Tía Carmen herself. Get comfy at the central bar or snag a table by the window, and start with a round of rum-based Fly Me to the Moon cocktails before moving on to decadent dishes like sticky pork ribs, Cuban-style chicken pot pie and burrata with a sherry vinaigrette.
