Indulge in Whisky, Sushi and Steak at These 4 Restaurants in and Around LA

From Omakase Tastings to Decadent Steaks, Here’s Where to Dine and Sip Glenfiddich Grand Yozakura Limited-Edition Whisky

Ready to sip in style? Priced at about $2,000 a bottle, Glenfiddich Grand Yozakura is the best of the best. This elegant spirit is centered around Japanese culture and is even named after the ethereal glow of cherry blossoms that are illuminated at night. Just like the fleeting bloom of cherry blossoms, Glenfiddich Grand Yozakura is also a limited-edition luxury.

This 29-year-old single-malt Scotch whisky is the first of its kind to be finished in Japanese ex-awamori casks. Before being transferred to these rare casks, the whisky is aged in Scotland for 29 years in ex-bourbon barrels and finished for six months in Awamori casks from the southern region of Okinawa in Japan. The precise method and unique finishing give Glenfiddich Grand Yozakura a deep coloring that looks like liquid gold as it pours into a crystal glass. It’s a must-try for whisky lovers—and something this luxurious needs to be sipped somewhere just as lavish.

Renovated by renowned interior design studio Nickey Kehoe, the Lobby Lounge at The Hollywood Roosevelt offers sultry space to sip, savor and stay awhile. Serving fresh fare straight from Shirley Brasserie—think elevated finger foods like caviar, salmon tartare, oysters and basil pesto burrata—this elegant hideaway is straight out of Hollywood’s Golden Era. Kick back on the plush couches, accented by a historic fountain and a cozy fireplace, and revel in the unmatched ambiance. And when it comes to libations, the Lobby Lounge is dedicated to pouring up some of the best whiskys in existence, so it’s no surprise that you’ll find Glenfiddich Grand Yozakura on the menu. Pair this Japanese-inspired whisky with the wood-fired Aspen Ridge New York steak and king crab legs with black garlic aioli for a match made in heaven.

Niku X is one of the latest and greatest Japanese steakhouses to hit Los Angeles. Having been added to the Michelin Guide in 2023, it’s safe to say that a Niku X is sure to impress. Best of all, this DTLA eatery serves Glenfiddich Grand Yozakura, meaning you can create the perfect luxe pairing. Order Glenfiddich Grand Yozakura on its own, so you can experience the toasted oak and earthy tones without modification. When it comes to food, the Yakiniku Tasting includes 14 courses, ensuring that you can experience the very best of Niku X. Start off with seafood appetizers like caviar and light spot prawn before moving on to a variety of grilled steaks. If you prefer a la carte dining, Glenfiddich Grand Yozakura pairs wonderfully with everything from the sashimi appetizers to the Wagyu tartare. The tomahawk steak plus this silky smooth whisky is also a dynamic duo.

Enjoy a little escape from LA by driving up to Montecito for an omakase dinner at AMA Sushi. Located at the opulent Rosewood Miramar Beach resort, AMA Sushi is an exclusive and intimate restaurant that foodies and whisky lovers alike will adore. The restaurant is tucked away from the center of the property, making it more private than some of the other dining options on-site. AMA serves up edomae-style sushi that changes with the seasons, and three dining experiences are available. Though the prix fixe menu is amazing, we recommend pairing a glass of Glenfiddich Grand Yozakura with the Omakase Tasting. This elevated sushi experience is $145 per person and showcases some of the freshest nigiri and sashimi available in Santa Barbara. Though the menu is seasonal, expect to start off with some Japanese-style appetizers followed by sashimi, deep-fried dishes, sunomono salad, sushi and dessert.

Escape the LA traffic and head down to the idyllic Montage Laguna Beach to sip by the sea. The bright and coastal lobby lounge features a timeless, warm wooden bar and a sleek piano. Kick back and lounge in style as you enjoy a fresh pour of Glenfiddich Grand Yozakura while you take in the Pacific views from the plush chairs or out on the spacious patio.

In the afternoon and evenings, live music sets the scene and creates the ultimate ambiance. Of course, no experience is complete without elevated cuisine to match, and when the ocean views are this good, it’s only fair to trade in the steak for seafood. The seasonal oysters offer a briney bite that adds a nice contrast to Glenfiddich Grand Yozakura. If you really want to go all out, opt for the Kaluga caviar service while you sip and experience the true meaning of luxury.
