Chef Jeremy Fox’s beloved comfort food concept returns Oct. 26 as an all-day American brasserie with a Midwest supper club soul
Birdie G’s, the beloved concept from James Beard-nominated Chef Jeremy Fox, officially opens at Fairmont Century Plaza on Oct. 26, ushering in a dynamic new culinary chapter at the property. Reimagined as an expansive American brasserie serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, the new Birdie G’s brings its signature creativity and spirit to Century City.
Named for Fox’s daughter Birdie and his grandmother Gladys, Birdie G’s is known for its nostalgic yet inventive approach to American comfort cuisine rooted in family tradition, regional flavors and meticulous craftsmanship. Fox is a Food & Wine Best New Chef and a widely respected voice in California’s produce-driven cooking movement, and he originally opened the restaurant in 2019 at Bergamot Station. Born in Cleveland and raised across the Midwest and Deep South before settling in California, he draws on his personal journey, regional foodways and childhood memories of family meals and classic chain restaurants to craft a thoughtful and fun dining experience.
A Midwest Supper Club in Century City
At Fairmont Century Plaza, Birdie G’s evolves into an inviting neighborhood institution that honors the timeless spirit of classic Midwest supper clubs, where comfort, effortless polish and welcoming ease converge. Designed in partnership with EDG Design, the airy, light-filled space combines 1970s revival and midcentury sophistication with warmth and lived-in comfort. Comfy banquettes pair with warm rust and brown tones, custom leather touches and clean lines. The custom green plaid barstools are a playful nod to the exact interior of Fox’s original 1969 VW Beetle. The result is a fun, relaxed atmosphere that blends family traditions with Midwest Nice and Southern Hospitality.
“In a lot of ways, this is more Birdie G’s than the original Birdie G’s,” Fox says. “The look and feel we always imagined never quite came together the first time, and here it finally has. You walk out of this sleek, modern lobby and step back in time into your grandparents’ rumpus room, with knick-knacks on the walls and all the little details that tell the story of where this food comes from. It’s the kind of place you have to experience in person, and I can’t wait to welcome everyone in to see it for themselves.”
Breakfast With Deli and Diner Flair
The menu features timeless American dishes transformed by Fox’s innovative techniques, handcrafted production and commitment to local, sustainable ingredients from regional farmers, ranchers and artisans.
Breakfast features comforting morning classics with subtle deli and diner undertones. The Smoked Fish Platter comes with a bagel, cucumber, cherry tomato, pickled onion, roe, capers, crème fraîche, chives and dill. The Cornbread Waffle arrives with sweet pepper jam and popcorn butter, and the Brûléed French Toast is topped with spiced apple, Spanish peanuts and smoked cinnamon chantilly. For something heartier, Steak & Eggs pairs a koji-marinated hanger steak with two eggs any style, breakfast potatoes and three peppercorn sauce.
Lunch for Every Occasion
Lunch can be friendly and casual or an elevated executive experience for the Century City business crowd. Crisp seasonal salads include The Century Plaza Wedge with little gems, smoked bacon, deviled egg mousse, cherry tomato, red onion, scallion and Bay Blue cheese. There’s also a Chopped Antipasto Salad that can be topped with salmon, hanger steak or chicken breast. Signature entrees include the Birdie Burger & Fries with onion jam, shaved onion, Cooper sharp cheddar and AL’s steak sauce, along with a Croque Madame and the Corned Beef Tongue Reuben.
Both lunch and dinner feature The Pickle Chick, a gluten-free schnitzel with cucumber, cornichon, whipped feta, dill pickle sauce, horseradish and dill pollen. Both menus also offer Prime Steak Frites made with prime Flannery beef grilled with a Montreal rub and served with fries and aioli. Cuts include an 8-ounce hanger, a 12-ounce New York strip and a 28-ounce bone-in Jorge Ribeye dry-aged for 28 days. Each comes with your choice of sauce, including AL’ Steak Sauce, Horsey Cream, Pot Roast Butter and Three Peppercorn.
Dinner Is a Generous Affair
The evening menu highlights generous portions and elegant cuts of steaks and chops, poultry and seafood. The Lamb a la Saless features a fat-capped lamb saddle marinated in fenugreek, black lime and beet molasses, served with crispy dill rice, dates and saffron yogurt. Mt. Lassen Trout comes with potato, smoked trout roe sauce and chive, and Chicken & Vegetables From the Rotisserie is served with root stoemp, cabbage, schmaltz, gribenes and beurre poulet.
Inventive vegetable dishes include Sprouting Broccoli with miso bagna cauda and hippy seed mix. The Fioretto Cauliflower Kugel is a casserole of duck egg noodles baked with four-cheese mornay, garlic confit and bread crumbs. Fan favorites make an appearance too, like Fresh Cucumbers pickled to order in dill pickle sauce and Matzo Ball Soup served with one golden spoon. To start, there’s Bub & Grandma’s Bread or Five-Onion Dip & Potato Chips, which can be topped with N25 caviar. The menu pays homage to Fox’s culinary journey with an extra touch of hospitality: here, a Birdie’s dozen means 14.
Desserts With a Cult Following
The restaurant’s iconic desserts remain an essential part of the menu. The World-Famous Rose Petal Pie is a terrazzo of raspberry, hibiscus and strawberry gelées in rosewater cream with a buttered pretzel crust. It’s joined by the nostalgic Malted Chocolate Layer Cake and the Sticky Date Bundt Cake with salted caramel sauce, because nobody has ever complained about too much caramel. The Creamsicle Rice Pudding comes with market citrus, coconut milk, preserved lemon and orange blossom, and at dinner, look for the Sugar Cream Tart, which the menu describes as crème brûlée in a pie crust.
A Menu Just for Kids
Since the restaurant is named for Fox’s daughter, young diners are treated with equal reverence. The dedicated kids menu offers thoughtfully made Potato-Crusted Chicken Fingers, pasta, Matzo Pizza Margherita and the playful Healthy Yucky Green Salad.
Cocktails and Wine
The bar program leans into farmers market produce and a variety of housemade infused spirits, syrups and tinctures. The cocktail menu serves nostalgic classics alongside modern creations. Morning sips include a Bloody Mary made with the restaurant’s signature mix and Hibiscus Heat with lime, agave, citrus, tequila blanco and habanero. There’s also Spritzing in Sunny Century City with Carpano Bianco, Mommenpop blood orange and sparkling wine. The wine list ranges from global classic vintages to unique selections from winemakers dedicated to soil health.
