How to Align Your Energy With the Phases of the Moon—#6 Is a Celestial Spirit You’ll Love Sippin’ On

Reflect, Reset and Recenter Yourself With This Lunar Guide

Let’s get metaphysical! It’s time to give your energies and auras an overhaul. As we tiptoe away from 2020 and enter 2021 with optimism, many of us feel the need to disinfect ourselves from the doom and gloom of the past 365 days and get our spirits in gear for the rest of the year. When it comes to aligning your energy, the sky’s the limit—or, shall we say, the moon is. Each phase of the lunar cycle (which lasts 29.5 days) carries with it a different meaning and call to action. Let’s dive a little deeper, shall we? Align with the Moon

1 | New Moon: New Beginnings Align with the Moon

The New Moon is a bit of a misnomer since the moon is actually not visible during this phase, but the vast darkness caused by it almost acts as a cleanser to wipe your energy canvas clean. This is the best time for new beginnings. Burn some sage or Palo Santo and sanitize the space you keep—both physically and spiritually. This is also a great time to pull a Tarot card to get a little clarity on what is to come this month.

2 | Waxing Crescent Moon: Intentions

The Waxing Crescent Moon isn’t a new type of trendy bikini wax, we promise. This moon phase is all about setting intentions. Take some time to meditate on what you want out of life and use the stillness to point you towards your purpose. Keep a journal handy to jot down any thoughts, ideas or imagery that comes to mind during your meditation.

3 | Waxing Gibbous Moon: Refinement

The Waxing Gibbous Moon is the ideal time to refine a practice or craft. For the yogis out there, try some new poses or finally perfect that headstand you promised yourself you’d nail in 2021. The moon is three-quarters full at this phase, so you can even get outside for a nighttime lunar lotus pose.

4 | Full Moon: Completion Align with the Moon

The Full Moon is the most powerful moon phase in terms of energy. It represents the completion of the lunar cycle and is basically the grand finale of all the phases. This is the time to break out those crystals you were pressured into buying on your cousin’s bachelorette party. Let them bathe in the moonlight overnight to recharge and harness their renewed energy by morning.

5 | Waning Gibbous Moon: Gratitude  Align with the Moon

The Waning Gibbous Moon is all about gratitude. Pour some essential oils into your diffuser and count your blessings. Let the aroma of the oils envelop you, as you acknowledge your appreciation for all that is good in your life. It’s time to wake up and smell the roses—literally.

6 | Waning Crescent Moon: Surrender

The Waning Crescent Moon brings an energy of unwinding, letting go and giving in. This phase is all about surrender. And what better way to surrender than by lapping up Hendrick’s latest libation: Hendrick’s Lunar Gin. This deeply floral and richly aromatic spirit is designed to be sipped and savored. Concede your energies to a refreshing and warm cocktail from Hendrick’s Cabinet of Curiosities.
