April showers bring May flowers to the tower that is the Top of the Hyatt San Diego—a rooftop bar perched 40 stories above San Diego Bay. This sky-high lounge at the stunning Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego is now decked out for springtime, and visitors are invited to experience its Over the Top Springtime Soirée takeover. The elevated rooftop space has officially blossomed for spring, showcasing the colors of the season with no detail spared.
The event’s centerpiece, of course, is a spread of tantalizing finger foods and sweet treats, giving guests a sample of their menu—think ahi poke, crispy Sicilian beef arancini and classic shrimp cocktail. The pop-up will remain open from now through June 18! Simply take the elevator up and find yourself surrounded by San Diego skyline views, irresistible sips and sweets and groovy musical performances! Here are four things to look forward to at this year’s bloomin’ San Diego event!
1 | Decadent Cocktails
Full bloom or full booze? Thankfully, this venue embraces both. The Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego’s Over the Top Springtime Soirée is sponsored by Don Julio and the drink menu has been carefully curated with a little something for everyone. Each libation is effervescent, refreshing and sure to put you in a springtime state of mind. For something refreshing, try the Strawberry Fields: a mix of Blade & Bow bourbon, ginger syrup, lemon juice, bitters, strawberry and mint leaves. For those who like something a bit stronger and sweeter, opt for the Head in the Clouds, which combines rum, Aperol, sweet vermouth and crème de cacao and a cotton candy garnish. In addition, the Manzana Miel with Don Julio Alma Miel, cinnamon syrup, lemon juice, granny smith juice and soda water is also a stellar sip!
2 | Sweets and Treats
With springtime here to make our lives a little sweeter, it’s only right that the Over the Top Springtime Soirée’s special menu features three different kinds of the famous ricotta-stuffed delicacy we can’t live without: cannolis. The menu features a cannoli trio dessert. To tie in the season, each one features a distinct flavor and comes topped with edible flowers. In the trio you’ll find the Traditional Sicilian, stuffed with ricotta, candied orange and chocolate chips. The Pistachio Rose is filled with a pistachio mascarpone and rose-scented raspberry jam. Lastly, the Lemon features a lemon ricotta filling mixed with white chocolate chips. Offered for the entire season, take advantage of this limited-time special. It’s perfect to share with your entourage.
3 | Decor, Views and Instagrammable Moments
If your Instagram feed has been lacking, it’s time to snap some fresh pics! Spruce up your grid with a few shots amidst the Top of the Hyatt’s beautiful springtime decor. Covered wall-to-wall with seasonal decor, the soaring space emulates an enchanting garden feel. Cozy up in a wicker egg chair or cushy lounge seat lined with pastel pillows. Hanging tulips and greenery, fancy umbrellas and plush, dreamy hanging clouds will hover above. There’s even a suspended daybed swing for those fun action shots! And even at 40 floors high, there’s still a reason to look up. The bay views are simply unbeatable!
4 | Live Tunes
An evening of bites and a little booze wouldn’t be complete without some live music. Top of the Hyatt’s Over the Top Springtime Soirée will feature live music every Tuesday and Friday through June, taking place from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. most evenings and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on select nights. Catch top-notch performers livening up the already vibrant space, playing sets spanning multiple genres. Slow down with pianist and vocalist Saint Misty, experience covers and originals by lively Emmy Jones and throw it back to the Rat Pack days with big-band grooves from Jefferson Schildgen. Whichever night you choose to experience this San Diego event, come ready to groove to the music!
