LA Muralist Jonas Never Partners With Tullamore D.E.W. to Create One-of-a-Kind T-Shirts

Taking His Talents and Passion Into the World of Fashion Muralist Jonas Never

If you’ve ever snapped a photo next to the Nipsey Hussle mural on Washington Blvd or posed in front of the towering Touch of Venice mural on your trip to the beach, then you’re familiar with the work of muralist Jonas Never—a rare talent who blends artistry with his background in sports and bartending to create art that “ties into local communities.” This time, Never has collaborated with Irish whiskey brand Tullamore D.E.W. to create one-of-a-kind T-shirts.

Jonas Never is no stranger to merging his passions. He started to become more heavily involved in the art scene in 2006 while working in a bar that had “SportsCenter” playing constantly. His bartending gig plus his past involvement in sports at UC Riverside led him to draw inspiration from athletics and sporting culture. Now his work is featured all over the world, from Bernie Sanders in the iconic mittens to Bob Ross and his paint palette.

Never’s work is proudly displayed on the walls of many restaurants, barber shops, local businesses and, of course, bars. His impressive artwork featured in a local LA bar is what caught Tullamore D.E.W.’s eye, and the brand pegged Never as the perfect creator for its St. Patty’s Day shirts.

Never and Tullamore D.E.W. are celebrating this festive holiday with a custom T-shirt collaboration powered by Never’s love for Los Angeles and Tullamore D.E.W.’s long-standing passion for authentic Irish whiskey. The T-shirt design, which features two hands raising glasses, was inspired by Never’s belief that “the best thing we could do before COVID was toast a friend.” His creative process was a bit different, scaling down his typical 30-foot canvas to a fraction of the size, yet it still displays all the power and beauty of celebrating our local community. “It could be anyone, in any bar, in any place in the world,” says Never, regarding the design. The t-shirt also includes delicate hand and wrist tattoos on the toasting friends, featuring the California flag and eagle, a shamrock and olive branches, all nestled under the script, “O’ Los Angeles.”

For future endeavors, Never is creating 20 baseball cards for Topps’ 70th anniversary as well as crafting designs for Blink182 and honoring Kobe Bryant’s last basketball game. Keep your eye out for blank spaces in LA; you never know when Jonas Never and his large-scale eye for art will pop up. For this St. Patty’s Day, take a tip from Never himself and “drink everything neat.” Cheers.
