“Mayans M.C.” Star Antonio Jaramillo Gets Real About Inspiration, Creativity and What’s Next

“Mayans M.C.” Actor Antonio Jaramillo Opens up About the Important Things in Life

Actor Antonio Jaramillo, currently known for his role as Michael ‘Riz’ Ariza on “Mayans M.C.,” sat down with us to talk about his roots, what inspires his creativity and what’s next. Jaramillo spent the majority of his childhood in an orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico, before moving to San Diego as a teenager where he was able to attend school and work. Throughout his journey, Jaramillo always had a passion for the arts and theatre, but it wasn’t until his mid-20s when he discovered acting. Since his arrival in Hollywood, he has graced the stage and screen in many memorable performances, and we can’t wait to see where he goes next.

Q: How did you start your acting career?

Antonio Jaramillo: I started my acting career on stage working in the theatre, not knowing that it would end up being my profession, that it would‎ give me a sense of self and a wonderful life. Initially, I just saw it as a way to learn about myself and those around me by investigating human behavior.

Q: Where exactly would you say you find your creativity and inspiration for your roles?

AJ: I find creativity in everything around me; in what I see, what I hear, what I feel, what I touch‎. In short? Life is creativity! People inspire me as well as discourage me, teach me and challenge me every day, making me a better actor.

Q: Are there any projects in particular that have really excited you?

AJ: Well, I have to say, being a part of such a cool and sexy show as “Mayans M.C.” is awesome! I mean, to go to work every day and ride a Harley Davidson? Also, working on “Shades Of Blue” with Jennifer Lopez and Ray Liotta was an amazing experience as well as working with Oliver Stone, Salma Hayek, John Travolta and my brother from another mother, Benicio Del Toro, in Savages was super cool!”

Q: So what’s next on the horizon?

AJ: Right now, I am fully committed and‎ devoted to playing the role of Michael ‘Riz’ Ariza in “Mayans M.C.”, but whenever possible I will go back to the stage and continue to work in the theatre until I get to Broadway!
