The holidays have hit the desert, and while it may be the perfect time to give and receive gifts, the most important part of this festive season is to spend time with those you hold dear. Whether it be family, friends or hopeful romances, the memories that you make together will last longer than any wrapped present. There are many different events taking place in Palm Desert that are sure to bring a touch of winter magic to the end of 2018. So don your best Christmas sweater and mark your calendars for these holiday happenings!

Time: 8 a.m.- Noon
Location: El Paseo and San Pablo

Get in some exercise before you gobble up your turkey dinner at the 12th Annual Thanksgiving Day 5k. Grab your friends and family and run, jog or walk this charitable race in your favorite turkey garb or seasonally-themed outfit. Strollers and leashed dogs are welcome to join! All proceeds from the event will benefit Martha’s Village & Kitchen’s programs for the homeless in Coachella Valley. Happy trails!

As part of the city’s First Weekend events, the Palm Desert Holiday Celebration will be a tribute to all the magic of the holidays! Enjoy holiday-themed treats, family craft sessions, falling “snow” and photos with Santa! For parents, a free Rockin’ Holiday Tribute Concert starring Elvis Impersonator Scot Bruce will take place at the El Paseo Center Lawn! Bring the whole family for some snowy fun!

Make Santa’s nice list at the Playtime With Santa event at The Gardens on El Paseo this holiday! The meet and greet will feature arts and crafts, sweet treats, refreshments and the opportunity to meet the big man, St. Nick, himself! The $15 cost to participate benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Desert, a nonprofit that works to improve the life of children in the Coachella Valley through mentorship.

Even man’s best friend can get into the spirit of the season! Bring your furry friends to the Paws N’ Claus event for holiday treats (for both pets and their human pals!) and photos with Santa. The $15 entry fee will benefit Animal Samaritans, a local nonprofit that works toward eliminating the euthanasia of adoptable animals.

Snowfall at the Gardens

Date: December 8-22
Time: 5-7:00 p.m.
Location: Center Lawn at The Gardens on El Paseo

Trade the desert sand for snow during The Garden on El Paseo’s Snowfall event every Friday and Saturday in December. The winter spectacle takes place in the evenings at the Center Lawn in front of Saks Fifth Avenue. Enjoy caroling, snowfall and more during this festive occasion.
