The start of a new year is the time to make resolutions and create memorable, lasting experiences, and what better way to ring in 2019 than attending the upcoming events planned at the Palm Springs Art Museum. This Greater Palm Springs cultural destination is a hotspot for art connoisseurs and offers a special lineup of events for 2019 that celebrates the creative side of fashion, nature and the human condition. Home to three locations within Palm Desert and Palm Springs, the Palm Springs Art Museum represents a colorful range of artistic representation in the Coachella Valley and is sure to bring some wonder to your new year. Museum members in 2019 will also get unlimited admission to all museum locations, invitations to member-only events and specialty pricing for classes and exhibits.

Get the Party Started
On Saturday, Jan. 26, the 80th Anniversary Gala will take place with a cocktail reception starting at 6 p.m. Attendees will wear white as the artwork is projected on them, staying true to the slogan of “the art is you.” Entertainment will feature America’s Got Talent Finalist Johnny Manuel and DJ Lee Dyson to dance the night away.

Building the Foundation
Hugh Kaptur: Organic Desert Architecture
From Feb. 2 to June 17, the work of designer Hugh M. Kaptur will be part of an exhibition to celebrate his contributions to the Coachella Valley. With over 200 projects built in the area, Kaptur’s work embodies the Desert Modernism style that forms the foundation of Palm Springs architecture.

Beneath the Skin
Shoulder to Shoulder: Depicting the Figure
Running until Sep.15 in Palm Desert, this exhibition pays tribute to the representation of the human form in different artistic mediums throughout varying cultures and movements. Shoulder to Shoulder consists of artwork from the 20th and 21st centuries, showcasing abstract human shapes and modernist interpretations of the human figure in a unique display.

Walk, Walk, Fashion Baby
Fashionistas can mark their calendars for the Art of Shopping event on March 4th and 5th, from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Browse international studio artists displaying some of their recent jewelry designs, accessories and wearable art. Plus, all the purchases made at The Art of Shopping support museum programs, educational opportunities and essential operations for the museum.

Wild, Wild West
Unsettled: Art on the New Frontier
Running until April 30, the Unsettled exhibition showcases the artwork of more than 75 contemporary artists living or working in the Greater West. The artwork hones in on the natural landscapes of Alaska, through the North American West, down to Bolivia, highlighting culture without borders.

Going, Going, Gone
The Artrageous Art Auction will give attendees the chance to take home their own piece of fine art on March 18. Artwork will be available for preview starting on March 1 in the Palm Springs Art Museum in Palm Desert’s Faye Sarkowsky Sculpture Garden while the entire auction will be available for viewing online and bidding at artsy.net starting on March 4.
