Everyone’s Favorite Desert Boutique Expands to Another Location
Stepping into Rancho Relaxo completely immerses you in the magic of the Coachella Valley. This boutique houses items crafted by local artisans that each embody a sense of place, from desert-modern apparel and accessories to home decor, bath and beauty products. Owned by local fashionista Stella Adena, Rancho Relaxo celebrates the mystery and beauty of the desert by displaying the work of local makers.
The shop immediately became a popular Coachella Valley stop among locals and vacationers after opening its first location in Rancho Mirage in 2019. With the support of community members who love the boutique’s friendly, welcoming environment while celebrating the spirit of the desert, Rancho Relaxo thrived throughout the pandemic, so much so that the shop is now expanding–a second location is set to open later this month at The Gardens on El Paseo.
Adena’s former career in high-end resort retail perfectly positioned her to curate a shop with items that she calls “aspirational.” Adena had fallen in love with catering to guests on vacation and was eager to create a brand that spoke to those visiting the desert.
“Rancho Relaxo offers locally made items that share a tangible memory of the Coachella Valley,” says Adena, “…special items to add to your wardrobe, new accessories, whatever it might be, I want to give shoppers something to hold on to that represents their time here.”
Rancho Relaxo’s second location at The Gardens on El Paseo will make the boutique more accessible to consumers on all ends of the Coachella Valley. “The new space will share the same DNA as the Rancho Mirage location,” Adena says, “but as the space is a bit smaller, the selection will be even more curated.” Shoppers can expect the Rancho Relaxo branded merch that they know and love and the warm, welcoming environment Adena has created at the new Palm Desert location. In addition, patrons can anticipate unique merchandise, events and festivities hosted alongside the surrounding shops on El Paseo. You may also catch a glimpse of Sunny, the boutique’s 1961 vintage trailer, parked outside of the store, adorned with a retro-futuristic mural by local artist John Cuevas, who will create a mural at the new shop too.
Rancho Relaxo is currently raising funds to support the opening of its new location at The Gardens on El Paseo, and if you share a passion for supporting small local businesses and makers, this is your chance to be a part of it! Be sure to stop by their new location for the soft opening on Oct. 15 and the grand opening celebration on Oct. 21. Both events are guaranteed to be a fun and festive time!
