Fireworks, BBQ and soaking up the SoCal sun—the Fourth of July is right around the corner. Whether you’re in Los Angeles, Orange County or San Diego searching for a staycation or some laid-back holiday fun, these are the spots to celebrate with a bang this year.

The businesses listed have information on their websites about their COVID-19 procedures, which include the health measures they are taking to ensure guests’ safety.

📍Los Angeles

Staycay in South Bay

Take full advantage of the holiday weekend with a staycation in the South Bay. Shade Redondo Beach is offering 10% off when you book a three-night stay, along with a private four-hour cabana reservation (with a bucket of beer or bubbly!). Get your tan on as you stare out at the gorgeous bay. Stay the entire three-day weekend at Shade Manhattan Beach, and they’ll give you a $75 credit to splurge on the secluded rooftop deck. Cheers!

Fourth at The Fig

Head to DTLA for a relaxing holiday weekend without any stress. Some perks to this stay include a complimentary welcome cocktail, room upgrade and free hotel parking. At sunset, a Featured Artist gallery is available for guest viewing, celebrating original works from rising female artists.

The Extra-Terrestrial, The NeverEnding Story, The Wizard of Oz, Invasion!, Apollo 13, Field of Dreams, Space Jam, Gloves Off and Creed are the movies available for enjoyment from July 3-5.

Book a stay at the tallest building west of Chicago at InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown. Sweeping views of Los Angeles await in the Deluxe Suite! Do something different this holiday weekend and live it up with the Sky High Picnic Experience (includes Superior Room accommodations, exclusive access to Spire 73, a picnic box and sparkling wine).

Feelin’ Spicy

Just in time for the Fourth, the highly anticipated Spice-C Hot Chicken Tenders opens on July 3 at The District at Tustin Legacy. Spice up your family BBQ or your chill night at home, and bring a platter of piping hot tenders with a flavorful dipping sauce for everyone to enjoy. Dig in!

Front Yard Celebration

Huntington Beach has pivoted their annual parade this year, bringing Fourth of July fun to you! OneHB Neighborhood Parade will be taking place throughout the community for residents to enjoy from their front porch instead of the usual HB pier.

Let’s Go to the Beach, Beach

You already know you have to get there early, but hanging out on the sand on the Fourth is worth it. Be prepared when packing a beach bag: sunglasses, towels and—most importantly—food! Pick up coconut shrimp and your favorite tacos from Coyote Grill in Laguna Beach before you head down to chill under the sun all day long. Curbside pickup and online ordering is available until 2 p.m….did we mention ice-cold margaritas to go?

On Island Time

The city of Avalon on Catalina Island will be celebrating Independence Day with a parade through town. Cruise on down for some special, patriotic island time!

Let’s Get Virtual

USO is celebrating military service members and their families during a virtual fun run, “Fourth on the 4th—Ruck, Walk and Run for Independence.” Register online and receive a racing bib, face mask and medal, participating will directly benefit military service members. Don’t forget to tune into The Annual Bob Hope USO Radiothon event on Thursday, July 2 from 6-10 a.m. for a good laugh!

Sea x Skyline

Escape it all and head to Loews Coronado Bay Resort, where you can soak in views of the sea and the skyline. This private oasis is the perfect destination for a mini vacay or staycay.

Get Outside

Lace up your sneakers and grab your mask; take a hike this holiday weekend on one of these San Diego trails. After a nice sweat, head to brunch at Cody’s La Jolla—indulge in the awesome French toast or the crab cake Benedict. Cheers to the Fourth!

Food, Drinks & Live Tunes

Grab your picnic blanket and spend Independence Day at The Loma Club, Liberty Station‘s historic 9-hole walking golf course from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Enjoy live music by Mark Fisher and patriotic food and drink specials! Menu offerings include summer favorites like the tri tip sandwich, veggie plate, grilled tri tip plate and mini hot dogs. For those of age, The Loma Club will also be making patriotic jello shots for guests to enjoy. Cheers to that!

Note: To ensure the safety of all attendees, spaces will be marked out 6 feet apart on the deck and grass.

📍Greater Palm Springs

Fireworks Bash

Agua Caliente Rancho Mirage will be hosting a 30 minute firework show that can be seen from all around the Coachella Valley! “We’ve all been on pause for so long so now, and it is time to push play and enjoy all our community has to offer once again,” says Darrel Kammeyer, Vice President of Marketing for Agua Caliente Casinos. A drive-in theatre to enjoy the show will exist to ensure safety and comfortability.
