8 Places to Eat and Drink During the 2023 US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach

Grab a Drink and Enjoy an Ocean Breeze at These Local Restaurants and Bars

Huntington Beach is known as Surf City, USA, so it only makes sense that one of the city’s most anticipated annual events is a competition and celebration of the sport. The US Open of Surfing has a rich history dating back to its inception in 1959, when it was originally called the West Coast Surfing Championship. In 1994, it was renamed the US Open of Surfing and has since become an iconic event in the surfing community—particularly in Southern California.

Over the years, this event has featured incredible surfers—including Kelly Slater, Chelsea Georgeson, Taj Burrow, Pauline Menczer, Kanoa Igarashi and Sage Erickson—showcasing their skills as they push the boundaries of the sport. The competition offers a vibrant atmosphere with live music and plenty of sponsored activities, making it a must-attend event for both surfers and spectators alike.

And after picking up new sponsors Cerveza Pacífico Clara (aka Pacifico) and Wallex, this year’s event (July 29-Aug. 6, 2023) is sure to be the best one yet. Speaking of Pacifico, here are eight Huntington Beach bars and restaurants to grab a bite (and perhaps a beer) at while attending the US Open.
