An Exclusive Look at the New Four Seasons Resort in Cabo Del Sol

Tradition and Modern Luxury Meet at Cabo’s Newest Gem

From the moment we arrived at the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Cabo San Lucas at Cabo Del Sol we were swept into a world where luxury meets whimsy. As we stepped through the grand hacienda-style entrance, a staff member greeted us with an unexpected question, “Do you believe in destiny?” It wasn’t just a rhetorical inquiry but the start of an experience designed to surprise and enchant at every turn.

We were then presented with a birdcage, and inside, a small bird named Panchito held the key to our weekend’s destiny. We reached in to retrieve a fortune that read: “Your enthusiasm will attract abundant opportunities in your future.” It set the tone for what would be an immersive and transformative stay in one of the most stunning locations on the Baja Peninsula.

After our whimsical introduction, a refreshing welcome drink was handed to us—a tangy mix of hibiscus, ginger and lemon. This libation perfectly embodied the resort: a blend of local tradition and modern refinement, where even the smallest details are carefully crafted to enhance the experience.

Gastronomic Greatness

One of the highlights of our stay was the extraordinary dining. We began with lunch at Coraluz, the resort’s beach club-inspired restaurant. The shrimp ceviche was a revelation—a perfect balance of fresh shrimp, tangy radishes  and cucumbers, paired with jalapeños and cherry tomatoes for a subtle heat. But the standout ingredient? Green olives, which added a briny depth to the dish. The view of the ocean from our table, coupled with four different salsas to choose from, made this more than just a meal. It was a sensory experience.

For dinner, we ventured to Palmerio, where we indulged in the squid ink pasta with lobster. The texture of the small, perfectly al dente noodles, combined with garlic and crispy breadcrumbs, was both comforting and complex. But it was the fresh tuna appetizer with caviar and a rich cream sauce that stole the show—an embodiment of the Mediterranean-inspired flavors that Executive Chef Miguel Baltazar brings to life here. Paired with the soft glow of the fire pits scattered across the terrace, the setting created an ambiance that was both intimate and dramatic.

Oceanfront Relaxation and Wellness

Our cabana by the ocean was nothing short of breathtaking. With hexagonal stone flooring and rustic wicker furniture, the space felt like a seamless extension of the rugged landscape. The palette of creams and earth tones created a sense of serenity—an ode to the desert-meets-ocean scenery of Cabo. We spent lazy mornings here, sipping micheladas and enjoying the resort’s impeccable service. Ice-cold chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream was just one of the unexpected delights they brought us poolside.

In terms of places to take a dip, the resort offers three distinct pools. We found ourselves gravitating to the serene adults-only pool, which is a peaceful sanctuary of white cabanas and stunning views of the Sea of Cortez. For those with kids in tow, there’s a splash deck at the family pool, and for those seeking even more relaxation, the spa pool is tucked away within the resort’s world-class Tierra Mar Spa, offering a quiet retreat from the rest of the property.

Speaking of the spa, the treatments at Tierra Mar Spa, inspired by local traditions, were a highlight of our stay. The use of indigenous botanicals and treatments developed in collaboration with Apotheca Beauty make the spa a sanctuary where body and soul come together. Whether enjoying a hot stone massage or a customized facial using the celebrated 111SKIN brand, the experience here was deeply restorative, enhancing the overall sense of escape.

Conversations With Leadership

I had the privilege of speaking with Richard Raab, the resort’s general manager, and Tim Powers, the senior director of marketing. Their insights added even more depth to our stay. When asked what makes the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Cabo San Lucas at Cabo Del Sol stand out, Powers confidently shared, “This is set to be one of the best resorts in our brand,” pointing out the perfect blend of traditional Mexican hacienda design with a modern Mediterranean flair. Raab, echoing the sentiment, said, “Sometimes the stars just align in a beautiful way, and this is what has happened here.”

It’s the people, according to both, that make this resort extraordinary. “At the end of the day, our people make unique connections and memories with our guests. That is our secret sauce,” said Powers. This became evident throughout our stay. The warm, personalized service was ubiquitous, whether it was staff remembering our favorite poolside drink or the thoughtful amenities left in our room each night.

Powers’ favorite dish? The Baja Tuna Crudo at Palmerio, which he claims he could eat three times a day if Chef Miguel allowed him. As for Raab, he spoke fondly of Chef Mimi’s soft-shell tacos at Coraluz, which made their way onto the menu after her hire—proof that great food stories are born from great collaborations.

Exclusive Experiences

This Cabo resort offers much more than just world-class dining and relaxation. On Friday evenings, La Plaza Mágica comes to life with a vibrant art walk open to guests and locals alike. Mariachi music fills the air, tequila tastings bring the flavors of Mexico to life and local artists display their works. It’s a celebration that feels authentic and inviting, a way for the resort to showcase its connection to the local culture.

The location itself is an integral part of the experience, making this one of the best resorts in Cabo San Lucas. Tucked in the coveted community of Cabo Del Sol, the resort offers easy access to some of Cabo’s most charming villages and popular destinations, unlike more secluded resorts. We spent one morning exploring the coastline on a guided kayak tour, paddling through crystal-clear waters while marveling at the stunning rock formations that define this stretch of the Baja Peninsula. For those more inclined toward adventure, the resort’s Baja 360° Adventure Centre offers snorkeling, paddleboarding and even Schiller biking across the ocean’s surface.

Local Insight: If visiting between November and April, this Four Seasons Resort offers prime whale-watching opportunities right from the beach.
