Here’s Why Balboa Bay Resort Is the Perfect Destination for Some Holiday Cheer
Who says you have to travel far and wide for the perfect seasonal vacation? As the old adage goes: there’s no place like home for the holidays, and with all of Balboa Bay Resort’s upcoming holiday events, we couldn’t agree more. With its four-star rating from Forbes and four-diamond rating from AAA, this harborfront Newport Beach resort is the perfect place to soak up some OC sunshine and holiday magic. From exploring sparkling light displays to going holiday shopping and enjoying a luxurious brunch on Christmas Eve, here are seven reasons to book a stay at Balboa Bay Resort this December.

Start your holiday off right with Balboa Bay Resort’s Holiday Hullabaloo on Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. One of Orange County’s most incredible tree lighting ceremonies, the Holiday Hullabaloo will feature a fun and festive musical review from OCSA’s MONTAGE and performances from magicians, dancers, live singers and holiday characters like Santa Claus, Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer as the resort lights a magnificent 20-foot Christmas tree. Enjoy complimentary drinks and treats with the donation of a new, unwrapped toy for the Toys for Tots drive. No reservations are required, but come early to try and grab a good seat!
Shop ‘Til You Drop
No holiday season is complete without a day (or two) of shopping. Whether you’re a last-minute shopper or simply want to pass the time browsing through holiday sales, Balboa Bay Resort is a fantastic destination for shopaholics. It’s close to two major OC malls, South Coast Plaza and Fashion Island, but more importantly, it’s only a five-minute drive to the fabulous waterfront boutiques at Lido Marina Village. You can also peruse the resort’s shops, and we especially recommend doing this on Mondays from 3-5 p.m. when Balboa Bay Resort throws its weekly Sip + Shop event.
Whatever Floats Your Boat
From Dec. 14-18, head to Newport Harbor to watch a dazzling array of decorated boats float through the bay during the 114th Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade. Want to take part in this classic Newport Beach tradition? Be sure to make a reservation at A+O Restaurant | Bar where you can have a front row seat.
Not all holiday plans need to involve going all out. Sometimes, all you need to lift your spirits is to take a little walk with hot cocoa or cider and enjoy some truly beautiful decor. Some classic spots to visit include the city of Orange’s Candy Cane Lane, Sherman Library and Gardens and Newport Bay’s Ring of Lights, but when you’re staying at Balboa Bay Resort, you don’t need to go off-property to ooh and aah over some spectacular decorations. Plus, you may be able to catch the Strolling Dickens’ Christmas Carolers as you make your way around the resort (on Dec. 1, 14, 16, 24 and 25)!
Most Wonderful Brunch of the Year
After weeks or even months of holiday prep, you deserve to sit back, relax and fully enjoy the holidays. So go ahead and reserve your seat at Balboa Bay Resort’s Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Brunch! Brunch will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 24-25 in the gorgeous indoor-outdoor Lighthouse Room, which will host a spectacular brunch buffet that the entire family will love. Tickets are $145 for adults and $75 for children.1/1
Celebrate the New Year
Start your new year celebration with a four-course dinner with wine pairing at Balboa Bay Resort! This event starts at 7 p.m. with tray-passed sparkling wine and hors d’oeuvres promptly followed by dinner. New Year’s Eve Dinner will take place in the Lighthouse Room and is only open to adults 21+. Tickets are $325 each and include entrance to the Studio 54 New Year’s Eve Party, with the inclusion of complimentary valet parking.
On Saturday, Dec. 31, from 9 p.m.-1 a.m., you can dance into the New Year at Balboa Bay Resort’s Studio 54 Party! This disco by the bay will feature a performance by Funky Hippeez Show and a sprawling dance floor in the Grand Ballroom. There will also be a sparkling wine toast at midnight, party favors and late-night snacks. Early bird tickets cost $150 (a two-week special starting Nov. 1), while regular tickets cost $195.
