10 Fun Things to Do in Huntington Beach This Fall

Add These Huntington Beach Activities and Events to Your Calendar for Some Fall Fun

Huntington Beach is one of the surf capitals of the world, and the city has undeniably lived up to its name of Surf City with its endless summer vibes and year-round beach scene. Even though HB will maintain its warm weather deep into autumn, we still think fall should be celebrated fully.

Of course, no fall season would be complete without pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin patches and heading to your favorite theme park for some after-dark thrills, but this time of year is so much more than that. So grab your family, your friends or your boo—here are 10 fun things to do in Huntington Beach this fall.

With its cobbled walkways, hand-painted details and undeniable charm, Huntington Beach’s Old World Village is always a fun place to visit, but the space really comes alive during Oktoberfest. As the largest Oktoberfest in Orange County, people travel far and wide to get dressed up and participate. Swing by for live entertainment, delicious German fare, dachshund racing and, of course, plenty of beer in the Biergarten. Lederhosen encouraged, but not required!

The name kinda says it all—what’s not to love about sharing a beach with a ton of corgis? Pack up some water and snacks for you and your furry friends and head out to Huntington’s Dog Beach to spend a day on the sand with plenty of pups. Honorary corgis and their humans are invited and encouraged to dress up for the costume contest and join in on the fun. Sunshine, crashing waves, a salty breeze and a bunch of corgis running around and being adorably chaotic? Count us in.

Surf City Spooktacular

When: Oct 31, 4-7 p.m.

This Halloween, Downtown HB will be transforming Main Street into a magical, family-friendly event celebrating everything we love about spooky season! The Surf City Spooktacular will offer trick-or-treating with local businesses from 4-6 p.m. and a Monster March parade at 5 p.m. followed by a Halloween costume contest. Don’t forget to take a ride on the Boo Wave, an exciting ride benefitting Waymakers Youth Shelter.

This night market and street fair has been a long-standing year-round tradition for Huntington Beach locals, and it makes for the perfect fall night out. Every Tuesday, the city blocks off Main Street in Downtown HB and makes way for rows of vendors, food stands, musical performances and more. Start the evening off by shopping the stands for artisanal food items and fresh seasonal produce, then pick up dinner at one of the hot food vendors. The Surf City Nights Farmers Market is super family-friendly, plus, it’s within walking distance of local hotspots like the pier and Pacific City.

Things to Do

“Fall” in Love With Bella Terra

One of our favorite parts of fall has to be the fashion, so if you need a closet refresh, we recommend heading to Bella Terra for some shopping at stores like No Rest For Bridget, Old Navy and J. Crew (which will be celebrating its second anniversary at Bella Terra this year). Bella Terra is also the perfect place to prep for spooky season! Check out Barnes & Noble’s House of Horrors Book Club, head into World Market for some hauntingly beautiful decor and catch a new scary movie at the theater. And, of course, no fall would be complete without a trip to Spirit Halloween for some costume hunting.

Thanks to an exciting range of restaurants, shops and things to do, there’s never a dull moment at this shopping center—and The Golf Bar is one of the latest and greatest attractions. With six sport simulators and a tasty food and cocktail program, The Golf Bar is a family-friendly indoor golf facility, sports mecca and event space that’ll keep you endlessly entertained. Tee up and practice your swing or branch out and try simulated baseball, pickleball, zombie dodgeball and much more.

Local Insight: Bella Terra has a ton of fun events to choose from, including weekend maker markets, Kids Club, musical performances and more.

Enjoy a Bowl of Ramen

While any time is a good time for ramen, it feels especially right once there’s a chill in the air. To experience one of our favorite spots in HB, head to Silverlake Ramen at Bella Terra. Silverlake Ramen uses traditional ingredients to craft its rich and flavorful broths but isn’t afraid to throw in bold ingredients for a bowl of ramen that’ll keep you coming back for more. Some of our favorite items on the menu include the broccolini with creamy sesame sauce, crispy chicken karaage, the Blaze ramen and the veggie ramen.

Snag a Sweet Corn Latte From Brew Story

Whether you prefer coffee, tea or anything pumpkin spice, fall was made for trips to your local coffee shop. And if you haven’t checked out Brew Story yet, this just might be your new favorite coffee shop in Orange County. Featuring a sleek, elegant design, delicious aromas from the roastery and beautifully crafted food and drinks, Brew Story is a must-visit this fall. Don’t miss out on tasty seasonal creations, like the sweet corn latte or the campfire latte, and if you’re looking for something classic, you can’t go wrong with a chai latte, strawberry matcha latte, cream top americano and black sesame latte.

Cheers to Brunch

Fall weather makes us think of longer nights—all the more reason to make the most of your daylight with a spectacular brunch at Jolie. Step into a space that puts an elevated and modern spin on the traditional beachside restaurant with a sand-toned color palette, wavy architectural details and plenty of ocean-view seating. The Jolie team recommends ordering the vanilla bean French toast, the baked Sicilian eggs and the bacon Benedict avocado toast, and we recommend pairing that with a cold brew martini and Jolie’s showstopping panoramic views of the ocean.

Local Insight: Jolie’s rooftop is currently open for private events, but it will open its doors to the public in the near future!

Stroll Through Huntington’s Urban Forest

If you need a cute date idea or simply want to spend some time with nature, take a fall walk in Huntington Beach’s Urban Forest. The Urban Forest is a passive park, so expect a comfortable stroll that’s perfect for soaking in all the beauty of the season, including pollinators, birds and native plant life. And don’t be surprised if you see a horse passing by—the Urban Forest neighbors an equestrian center!

For an extra cute and meaningful visit, consider mixing your walk with something creative and off-screen, like taking photos with a film or Polaroid camera, sketching some plant life while sitting on a bench or writing a list of what you’re most thankful for this fall for while visiting the Gratitude Garden.
