5 Reasons You Should Perfect Your Swing With a PGA WEST Membership

Ensconced under the Santa Rosa Mountains near Palm Springs, the La Quinta Resort & Spa, a Waldorf Astoria Resort boasts no shortage of luxurious amenities. But there’s one facet of this getaway that particularly stands out: PGA WEST, an exclusive series of world-class golf courses, designed by some of the best and brightest to ever play the sport. Upon signing up for a membership, you can hit the links for over 109 holes worth of championship-level golfing before kicking back at three celebrated clubhouses. If that wasn’t enough to convince you, check out these five other reasons to become a PGA WEST member today!

1 | The Property PGA West

Location-wise, PGA WEST stands out for a variety of reasons. Per Jennifer Jenkins, Director of Membership Sales and Marketing: “This is truly a property that cannot be duplicated. Because of the land value alone, we’ll never have this collection any place else. Next to Pebble Beach, this is the most known property in the country.”

2 | The Club Courses PGA West

At PGA WEST, says Jenkins, “we have a huge, unique variety (of options)…” Indeed, you’ll have the chance to work on your swing at six separate courses, each with its own aesthetic. Of those, there are three club courses, which members share with resort guests: the iconic Stadium Course, which was ranked among the top fifty in the country by Golf Digest, the Nicklaus Tournament, with elevated greens inspired by famed long hitter Jack Nicklaus and the Australian-themed Greg Norman Course, lined with sweeping, sandy vistas.

3 | The Private Courses PGA West

What’s a membership without exclusive perks? In addition to the aforementioned areas, members receive access to three additional courses. These include the Tom Weiskopf, with panoramic views of the valley, the Jack Nicklaus Private, which can put skilled players to the test and the Arnold Palmer Private, a rugged, tournament-worthy stretch of green. “Each course is more spectacular than the next,” remarks Jenkins. “Our intention is that you’ll come, play and fall in love.”

Native Knowledge: After a long day of golf, pull into PGA WEST‘s “Drive Up Movie Theater.” “You can come in on your golf cart and we screen…movies. It’s like back in the day with drive-ins… We serve popcorn and hot cocoa,” says Jenkins.

4 | The Amenities

Join for the golf, stay for the family fun. Members enjoy access to an array of restaurants, pools and signature clubhouses. “It’s its own little retreat,” remarks Jenkins. “If you want to be at the [pool] and be with a bunch of people, you can do that, or if you want to be at your own area and relax, you can find that serenity.” Additionally, PGA WEST has created a brand new sports complex, where members can opt in to an assortment of activities, including Bocce Ball and Pickleball courts, “Dive-In” movies by the poolside and a kid-friendly gaming area room.

5 | The Staff

The PGA WEST boasts numerous 10-to-20-year employees, all dedicated to giving members the ideal experience. “They know before you sit down what you like to drink and will have it waiting for you,” says Jenkins. “People stay because the property is part of their family. They have a lot of pride and it shows.” Whether you’re on the links or stepping out for a bite to eat, top-notch service is more than an expectation—it’s a guarantee.

Native Knowledge: The staff coined a “secret menu item” that’s become a staple. “It’s called ‘Chicken and Rice'” recalls Jenkins. “That’s it—chicken and rice with grapes…an unusual combination. We had someone who we rehired after 10 years and they made it in the kitchen. Next thing we know, people called us to put it on the menu! If you’re a local, you can ask for it.”
