Pacific Point Resort Opens This Summer in Pismo Beach

Whale Alerts, Oceanfront Firepits & the Town’s Largest Pool

Pismo Beach just landed its most ambitious resort yet. Pacific Point Resort opens in July 2026 with 170 oceanfront suites perched 90 feet above the Pacific, where coastal bluffs meet the kind of landscape that makes you forget your phone exists.

This isn’t just another beachfront hotel. The resort debuts with a Whale Watch Dispatch service that sends real-time alerts when whales and dolphins appear offshore. You’ll know exactly when to grab your camera and head to the sun deck. In-room binoculars come standard.

Speaking of that sun deck: it’s oceanfront, firepit-lined and built for lingering. The resort also features two pools, including the largest in Pismo Beach, plus an interactive wine wall showcasing eight local vintages. Think grab-and-go tasting without the tasting room crowds. Pacific Point Resort anchors a $50 million investment in California’s Central Coast by Peregrine Hospitality.

The company is betting big on the region’s nostalgic beach town appeal and year-round draw.

Pismo Beach earned the top spot as the number one coastal small town by USA Today, and it’s easy to see why. Surf shops, saltwater taffy counters, vintage boutiques and sunset pier strolls recall an earlier era of California coastal charm. Pacific Point taps into that vibe while adding modern luxury.

The resort unites two legacy properties—Pismo Lighthouse Suites and Shore Cliff Hotel—into a single 12-acre destination. SFA Design, named to Forbes’ 2026 Top Hospitality Architects & Designers list, led the creative vision. The firm designed L’Ermitage Beverly Hills and Miraval Arizona.

The aesthetic reflects the dialogue between rugged coastal bluffs and rhythmic tides. Shore Cliff guestrooms and suites channel the free-spirited energy of a 1970s California road trip with earthy textures and grounded tones. Lighthouse and Ocean House suites echo the light and movement of surf with a true beach town base camp feel.

The glass-wrapped lobby doubles as a gallery. Custom murals of the coastline, local art from Central Coast photographers and watercolorists, and handcrafted pottery rotate through the space.

Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the Pacific, while caramel and sand-toned sofas anchor the vaulted wood-paneled atrium.

Pacific Market serves as the resort’s all-day outpost. The menu includes pastries, quiches, salads, ciabatta sandwiches, flatbreads and snacks, plus an espresso bar and selection of wine and beer. The sun deck offers outdoor games like cornhole, ladder toss and badminton.

The resort sits directly on the Pismo Coastal Access Trail, a blufftop path tracing the Pacific along legendary Highway 1. The neighboring Pismo Preserve spans hundreds of acres with miles of hiking and biking trails. Complimentary bikes make it easy to explore.

Peregrine Hospitality’s Central Coast portfolio also includes Vespera Resort on Pismo Beach, home to the city’s only beachfront dining. Avila Beach House opens in July 2026 in the region’s sunniest microclimate. The 54-suite property is designed to feel like a private beach estate without the maintenance.

Over in Paso Robles, Michelin-starred Chef Charlie Palmer brings three dining concepts to the historic Paso Robles Inn in 2026. Cattlemen’s Bar, a modern cowboy bar celebrating the region’s ranching heritage, just opened. Salina Rooftop launches in June as Paso Robles’ first and only rooftop bar. The Pass by Charlie Palmer arrives in fall as a modern tavern with California soul.

Pacific Point Resort positions itself as an extension of the Pismo Beach landscape. Guests can explore the trails or stay on property to watch the horizon. The resort aims to turn visitors into long-term advocates for the Central Coast’s natural beauty and small-town culture.

Pacific Point Resort opens in July 2026. It’s time to rethink your summer plans.
