9 Things I Can’t Wait To Do In San Diego This August

From Coffee With Friends to Cocktails at Night, This Is How I’m Going to End My Hibernation

Written By: Kaylin Waizinger Post-Quarantine Activities San Diego

If you know me well, you know I’m no social butterfly. I take my evening glass of red on my couch quite seriously. But I have to admit, after three months of Zoom calls, no make-up, and too much take out, I am ready to emerge from my cave, slip on a pair of actual pants, and see my friends. Here are 10 things I can’t WAIT to do after quarantine ends.

1 | Happy Hour Post-Quarantine Activities San Diego

5 o’ clock cocktails combine three of my favorite things: freshness, friends and a slight buzz. So, it’s no surprise that happy hour drinks are at the top of my to-do list. While in quarantine, I’ve attempted the Moscow mule and the classic margarita, but something about an expertly crafted cocktail just puts me in good spirits.

Louisiana Purchase in North Park is my go-to place for a sip. I order their groovy Pablo Discobar drink, which is made with Earl Grey Elyx, Colombian rum, oleo saccharum, guava, mango and kombucha, all served in a sparkly disco ball. My advice: share with friends!

2 | Book a Staycation ost-Quarantintivities San Diego

What is it about the smell of sunscreen that triggers the “I-need-to-be-on-vacation-now” mentality? Don’t get me wrong, tanning in my backyard is lovely, but I can’t stop dreaming of a poolside paradise. Carlsbad’s Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Golf Club & Spa offers world-class recreation and relaxation amid 200 acres of lush, natural landscape overlooking the Batiquitos Lagoon. I plan to kick back in one of their coastal-chic guest rooms with balcony views and spend a day on the green at the Aviara Golf Course. With 18 holes and 7,007 yards of sculpted rolling hillsides and several bunker and water challenges, it’s no wonder this course was named one of the best resort golf courses in America! I can’t wait to soak up the sun at this Forbes Five Star resort.

3 | Shop ‘til I Drop Post-Quarantine Activities San Diego

While I am thankful I haven’t spent a dime on new clothes and accessories recently, I am itchin’ to browse through some of my favorite San Diego shops. When it comes to an all-day outing, Del Mar Highlands Town Center is a total gem.

4 | Home Improvements Post-Quarantine Activities San Diego

Over the past few months, I’ve spent a lot of time in my house, and I’ve begun to notice some areas that need attention. Once the social distancing guidelines are no longer in place and it is safe to have people in my home, I plan on starting some renovations. As much as I love DIY projects, I think I’ll leave it to the pros. Terra Bella Landscape Development specializes in bringing your vision to life. From outdoor luxury living to a simple park-like garden, their team of experienced artisan craftsmen is sure to impress.

As for interiors, Kaminskiy Design and Remodeling is a trustworthy firm that prides itself in upfront and honest communication to go withand its licensed, experienced personnel. Whether you’re looking to create a more contemporary feel throughout your entire space or simply want to revamp your kitchen, Kaminskiy Design and Remodeling is here to help you achieve your goals.

5 | Host a Backyard BBQ

For me, the beauty of Southern California lies in our beautiful beaches and consistently warm weather. One of my favorite things to do in the spring and summer months is to dine al fresco. I love hosting a backyard soiree with smoked meats, cold beer and good friends. In other words, it’s much more fun when your dog isn’t the only one in attendance. So as soon as the 6-foot rule is no longer in place, I plan on cracking open a Modelo or Corona Hard Seltzer and sitting around the fireplace with mi mejor amigos!

6 | Take a Trip to T.J. Maxx

Okay, this simply had to be on my list. I saw a meme the other day that read: “Do you think T.J. Maxx will be serving alcohol at their reopening, or should I tailgate in the parking lot?”

I’ll just leave it at that.

7 | Watch Live Sports

If you know me at all, you know I am a sports fanatic. Soccer, hockey, baseball, football—I watch ‘em all. One of my favorite ways to spend a summer day is to see the Padres play at Petco Park. However, if my bank account won’t permit an outing to the ballpark, Park 101 Carlsbad is one of the best places to catch a game on TVtv. The 8,000- square-foot multi-level, plaza-style complex serves delicious bites and local brews! If games are one, you’ll find me bellied up to the bar wearing my team’s jersey (Go Eagles!).

8 | Resume My Wellness Routine

Highlights and spray tans may not be a necessity, but selfcare sure is. Livkraft in La Jolla offers an amazing selection of wellness services including Cryotherapy, Hyperice Recovery and Joov Red Light Therapy—all designed to support your health and fitness journey.

If your beauty routine typically involves a weekly trip to the spa, Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa offers the ultimate relaxation experience. Their Sleep Well CBD Lavender Wrap includes a soothing peppermint oil scalp massage and a luxurious foot massage using a hydrating sole soothing foot balm. Raise your hand if you’re in need of one of these right now!

9 | Grab Coffee With Friends

Fact: Coffee is not meant to be a drive-thru experience; it’s meant to be sipped with friends! Le Parfait Paris is the perfect stop for a box of macaroons and an afternoon pick-me-up. I look forward to grabbing a table and ordering my usual—a lavender honey latte with extra foam!

Locations at: Gaslamp Quarter, Liberty Public Market and Fashion Valley Mall
