Smooth It Out

Xeomin

Xeomin is a neuromodulator wrinkle reducer similar to Botox. Xeomin is most commonly injected into the frown lines between the eyebrows for a smoother, more youthful looking appearance. This treatment typically takes around 15 minutes and is priced at $9 per unit, a relatively inexpensive way to turn back the clock. Xeomin is categorized as a naked injectable, alluding to the fact that it does not contain any additives (in contrast to Dysport and Botox which contain carrier proteins). This guarantees that the product is in its purest form, which proves beneficial as the human body has less of a chance of becoming resistant to it. This means that your body is unlikely to build up a tolerance to Xeomin, unlike with Botox and Dysport, making it a popular choice for those wanting to do continuous treatments. Results vary but usually last between 3-4 months.

Something to Smile About

Belotero

Belotero is a dermal filler used to smooth smile lines, conceal deep-set nasolabial folds and improve skin hydration and facial volume. Belotero contains hyaluronic acid, an ultra-hydrating compound that is natural to and well-received by the body. Belotero is less dense than similar dermal fillers, making it a great option for fine lines and delicate areas. The treatment itself takes around 30 minutes and costs $450 per syringe. Using a fine-gauge needle, a trained technician will inject the skin superficially (meaning close to the surface of the skin) for a minimally-invasive treatment with natural results lasting approximately six months. Belotero is also commonly used under the eyes to fill in under-eye hollows.

Need a Lift?

Sculptra

If aging is the issue, then Sculptra is the solution. Sculptra is a long-term cure with its collagen-building properties. They don’t call this guy the “liquid facelift” for nothing. It can be injected all over the body to soften, lift and plump. Treatment takes around 30 minutes with 15 minutes of numbing beforehand and is $600 a vial. The amount of vials depends on age and how the skin has fared over time, but typically they recommend one vial per decade. This means a patient in their 30s would need approximately three vials, 40s would need four vials, 50s require five vials. Sculptra can take up to three months for optimal collagen creation; often times, the treatment will be done along with an “instant results” injectable like Radiesse so patients get that immediate effect with the long-term results. Sculptra lasts for two years with no additional maintenance; however, it can last indefinitely with a once-yearly touch up treatment.

Positively Radiesse

Radiesse

Radiesse is commonly used for contouring cheeks, chin and other areas of the face. Treatment can be completed in 30 minutes with 15 minutes of numbing beforehand. The cost is $600 per syringe and they tend to recommend one syringe per facial feature (cheek, chin, jawline, etc.) Radiesse is a filler for volume and stimulates collagen as well. People love it because it has properties that are not easily broken down by the body, meaning results can last for over a year. This tends to be preferential for people committed to change, as opposed to patients who are just looking for temporary reshaping or plumping.

Hya, Beautiful!

Hyaluronic Acid

Say it with us: hi-uh-luh-ron-ick-acid. Well done! Hyaluronic acid is most commonly found in Juvederm, which is one of the most popular dermal gel used in lip fillers. The numbing process is 15 minutes and then the treatment is 30 minutes. They typically recommend one syringe for lips, but do offer half syringes for those who want to proceed conservatively. The cost of one syringe of Juvederm Ultra XC is $550, Juvederm Ultra Plus is $600 and Restylane is $450. They also offer other hyaluronic acid heavy hitters like Vollure, Voluma and Volbella for $650 per syringe. Depending on the filler choice, results can last mere months or up to two years.*

*Remember that everyone metabolizes injectables differently and therefore results vary from patient to patient!
