Spring Awakens With Vibrant Flowers and Mesmerizing Sculptures
Spring is arriving in full bloom at The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch, a working flower and specialty crop ranch that has been an essential part of Californiaās agricultural heritage for over 60 years. Located just half a mile from the ocean, this iconic springtime destination boasts 55 acres of breathtaking Giant Tecolote Ranunculus. There is also a 2-acre blueberry patch and a 3.5-acre olive grove producing locally sourced olive oil. With easy access to major airports and hotels, itās a must-do in terms of spring activities in San Diego.
Mark your calendars because starting Saturday, March 1, 2025, visitors can wander through the dazzling fields, immersing themselves in one of Southern Californiaās most vibrant natural spectacles.
For the 2025 season, The Flower Fields in Carlsbad is adding an extra touch of enchantment with its first-ever traveling exhibit: āGlass in Flightā by acclaimed artist Alex Heveri. This mesmerizing installation features over three dozen hand-crafted glass and steel sculptures of butterflies, dragonflies, bees and other shimmering creatures scattered throughout the fields.
A Season of Color and Creativity

āThis is going to be the most colorful season at The Flower Fields to date,ā says Fred Clarke, General Manager of The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch. āWe canāt wait to see the faces of our guests as they take in the sight of Alex Heveriās life-like, giant sculpturesā¦ā
āGlass in Flightā transforms The Flower Fields into an open-air gallery. Each sculpture is constructed from glittering Dalle de Verre glass and powder-coated steel, designed to play with sunlight and movement. Heveriās work is inspired by the delicate yet powerful motion of insects in flight. This makes it a perfect complement to the dynamic, ever-changing blooms of The Flower Fields in Carlsbad.
āThe kaleidoscope of color that The Flower Fields bring each year is a stunning contrast for the individual sculptures that make up my āGlass in Flightā exhibit,ā says Alex Heveri. āIām thrilled to bring my largest exhibit to date to Carlsbad, with over 38 sculptures sprinkled throughout the fields.ā
