“Open for everyone!” is the sentiment that Randy Duncan, Silver Rock Golf Resort’s general manager, wanted to create when he began the process of reopening. Despite a seasonal overseeding closure of the course from Oct. 5 to Nov. 3, construction of new villas and the COVID-19 pandemic, the PGA pro-level course has a long history of holding their patrons’ needs above all else. They’ve continued that tradition by making every accommodation visitors would normally experience accessible in a way that preserves their safety and ensures that the legacy at SilverRock lives on.

SilverRock has had the prestigious honor of hosting the Bob Hope Classic and was designed by the team at Arnold Palmer Designs. Called “The Crown Jewel of La Quinta,” SilverRock is tucked into the refuse of the San Jacinto Mountains, complete with spectral and breathtaking vistas, providing a great setting for players to grace the same greens as some of golf’s brightest stars.

Though the adaptations have altered some services, SilverRock maintains its standard comfort and serenity and, in some ways, has streamlined the process. Golfers can book tee times completely online, and if you’d like a taste of the gourmet cooking at the SilverRock Grill, you can dine in or get takeout. Hours have been limited to guarantee less traffic and more quality time on the green, make sure you check with the course ahead of time. All contact points have been eliminated and golfers can now use their personal golf cart to help adhere to distancing guidelines. This means that your day starts from the safety of your home and seamlessly transitions to your tee time on your terms. Face masks are required inside the buildings and restaurant but are discretionary on the course.

The on-site dining experience offers seating on the outdoor patio, perfect for this season of cooler weather. This long summer feels a whole world apart from this coming fall, and the American Southwest offers us smooth and natural beauty in harmony with the SilverRock experience and a much needed breath of fresh air. Indoor seating is available with limited capacity, making for a safe but nearly identical experience. You’d be sorely disappointed, however, by missing the opportunity to enjoy the view from the outdoor patio.

Despite the challenges presented by the county safety mandate, SilverRock has had the “best summer ever” in Duncan’s tenure. “Careful planning and our experienced staff made for a smooth transition,” says Duncan. Luxury remains intact at SilverRock, maintaining every expectation of the golf community without sacrificing quality. SilverRock is constantly changing, so fitting these accommodations came as painlessly as possible, and Duncan encourages those invested in the growth of SilverRock to watch the progress themselves at www.silverrock2021.com.
