Trick or Treat Your Family to These Autumn Experiences at Belmont Park in San Diego
The first official day of fall may be slated for Sept. 22, but pumpkin spice season starts for us as soon as Belmont Park kicks off its annual fall festival!
Autumn colors and flavors collide with beach weather and a salty sea breeze at this annual fall event in San Diego held from Sept. 7 to Oct. 27. The grounds of Belmont Park will be transformed into a whimsical montage of pumpkins, scarecrows and crimson red leaves, providing the perfect photo ops to elevate your fall feed! This year’s festival will feature the return of favorites like free trick-or-treating and the Belmont Park 5K. Keep an eye out for new seasonal surprises, from fall foodie passes to ghoulish beer festivals. Paired with live music on Sundays, Halloween-themed workshops and so much more, this oceanfront fall festival in San Diego will be the highlight of your spooky season.
1 | Brews on the Beach at Belmont BeerFest
Belmont Park’s Beachside Fall Fest is brewing up something special for this year’s event! As much as we love the iconic PSL, it’s hard to say no to a brew at the all-new, fall-themed beer festival. The all-new Belmont BeerFest will kick off on Sunday, Oct. 20, offering visitors an opportunity to sip their way into the fall season.
Belmont Park is all about supporting small businesses, with over 20 pop-ups from local breweries pouring seasonal beers on tap. We always appreciate an ice-cold beverage, but live music seals the deal! Since it’s all too easy for one glass to turn into two (or three), investing in an all-you-can-drink pass is the obvious solution. This daily wristband sets social drinkers up for a day of success with unlimited pours at Belmont BeerFest.
2 | Eat Your Heart Out With the Food-Tasting Card
What’s that you smell? BBQ bacon jalapeño burgers? Maple bacon fudge? Caramel apple funnel cakes? Everyone knows it’s the food that makes pumpkin spice season come to life. Foodies with a sweet tooth are in for a spooky surprise with Belmont Park’s all-new Fall Flavor Pass. Ringing in fall with five new ways to savor the season, this indulgent tasting card is your ticket to a host of specials for $35.
Start the tasting trail off at Belmonty’s Burgers with a BBQ bacon jalapeño burger or a mini caramel apple funnel cake. Make sure to save room for the orange Dole Soft Serve and maple bacon fudge from Sweet Shoppe, though. When it comes to drinks, the choice is yours! The Thai tea boba always hits the spot, but it’s equally rivaled by the boozy Chai Collins, which is swirled with notes of lemon, apple, chai and apple cider.
3 | Free Trick-or-Treating
You might want to consider upgrading your kiddos’ trick-or-treat bags to an XL size this Halloween. Belmont Park is notorious for putting on quite the show when it comes to collecting candy in the spirit of Halloween. Taking place every Sunday in October at 5 p.m. is the park’s all-out trick-or-treat trail, crisscrossing the park grounds from the Adrenaline to Midway zones.
If that’s not enough, little ones can earn extra Snickers and Sour Patch Kids at the annual Trunk-or-Treat Car Show on Oct. 27. This fall-themed car show displays over 50 classic cars, with a candy station or two sprinkled in. Prizes will be awarded to the spookiest of vehicles—bonus points for cobwebs, skeleton bones and other eerie decor!

4 | Kids Free October
Here’s another one for the trick-or-treaters! Kids Free October presented by Ralphs seems to be a theme in San Diego, and Belmont Park is on-trend this season. Free candy is only the beginning of what’s in store for kids at this fall San Diego event. Aside from Reese’s and Hershey’s bars, the rides are what this theme park is all about!
Purchase an adult wristband during the month of October and receive a complimentary kids wristband for unlimited access to all rides and attractions at Belmont Park. Chase the adrenaline rush on thrill rides like the iconic Giant Dipper coaster or Beach Blaster. However, the Liberty Carousel, Tilt-a-Whirl and Wave Jumper offer an equally exciting and daring ride for junior trick-or-treaters. Guests can redeem this exclusive spooky season offer online or at the park using the code KIDSFREE. Catch you on the coaster!

5 | Belmont Park’s 2024 Community 5K
Lace up your sneakers and gear up for Belmont Park’s 2024 Community 5K—an event that supports childhood cancer awareness! The success of last year’s inaugural beachfront 5K is hard to beat, giving 2024 participants a literal run for their money. Training starts now for returning athletes hoping to beat their time at the big event on Sept. 22. Then again, leisurely strollers are just as welcome! Check-in begins at 6:45 a.m. in the Draft Coffee Courtyard, giving you just enough time to snatch your morning brew before 8 a.m. This scenic loop trail circles the park grounds while spanning the coastline along Mission Beach. Did we mention that participants receive a free Ride and Play pass and drink voucher? Plus, to refuel, they can enjoy a post-run beachside brunch at Draft.
6 | Seasonal Workshops
According to Instagram, painting pumpkins is so last season! Attendees of Belmont Park’s Beachside Fall Fest can participate in the Succulents and Sangria workshop popping up on Sept. 18 from 6-7:30 p.m. Hosted by a local succulent designer, this garden-inspired event includes sangria, snacking boards and a collection of pumpkins and decorative materials. Whether you’re a natural-born artist or are just looking for some new fall decor to spice up your home, stop by the Coaster Terrace for an evening of ghoulish fall fun!
And if you’re feeling extra crafty, you can paint your own disco ghost art at Belmont Park Fall Fest Paint Night—a wine and art experience on Oct. 16 from 6-8:30 p.m. Located on the Coaster Terrace, the sunset views, charcuterie and red and white samples make this a must-not-miss evening affair.
