As with many other activities, you’ve undoubtedly missed teeing off at your favorite golf course during the pandemic. But some of the rules for outdoor activities have changed recently, so you can now get your game back on track at one of these top-notch courses in the Greater Palm Springs area. Just be sure to wear a mask when checking in and practice social distancing when you play!


1 | SilverRock Resort Best Golf Courses

For serious golfing enthusiasts, SilverRock Resort’s Arnold Palmer Classic Course covers a challenging 7,239 yards that sprawls across more than 200 acres. Its massive native bunkers and stunning water features are set against a backdrop of the beautiful Santa Rosa Mountains. SilverRock is open to the public and is a former home course of the PGA Tour’s Bob Hope Classic from 2008-11.

2 | Stadium Course at PGA West

Walk in the footsteps of golf legends on the Stadium Course at PGA West, which is ranked among some of the best courses in the world. The par-72 course is located on the gorgeous ground of La Quinta Resort & Club and is home to the Desert Classic Golf Tournament. You’ll be challenged by playing the island green of the 17th hole—known as Alcatraz—and a water-lined 18th hole at the end.

3 | Classic Club Best Golf Courses

Classic Club was designed by Arnold Palmer and was a host site of the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic from 2006-08. It has impeccably groomed fairways and greens, a rolling terrain, wide landing areas, awesome water features and 14 bridges. The course has been named one of the top 10 desert courses by Desert Golf. Classic Club’s staff members can also give you helpful tips for playing your best game!

4 | Indian Canyons Golf Resort Best Golf Courses

Indian Canyons has two courses: the North Course, which features a Disney fountain at its ninth and 18th holes, and the South Course, which has four ponds and palm tree-lined greens. Both courses are spread out over 550 acres on the Agua Caliente Indian Reservation and have gorgeous views of the San Jacinto Mountains.

5 | Rancho Las Palmas Golf Course

Play any of three recently reopened nine-hole courses at Rancho Las Palmas Golf Course: North Course, South Course and West Course. You’ll enjoy the rolling terrain, six lakes and views of the San Jacinto and San Bernardino Mountains along these player-friendly courses. Have a delicious breakfast or lunch at Between the Nines and book an overnight stay at the beautiful Omni Rancho La Palmas Resort & Spa. Tee-time reservations are required, and rental clubs are currently unavailable.

6 | Mission Hills North Best Golf Courses

Pro golfer Gary Player designed this course at the Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa and incorporated the existing landscape into its greens and tees. You’ll be surrounded by mountain views and water features along the wide fairways. With lakes on 10 holes, the course’s design makes extensive use of water. Even with some challenging water features, this course is designed for players of all levels.

7 | Celebrity Course and Players Course

Golf architect Clive Clark designed the Indian Wells Celebrity Course with curving fairways and water features that include streams and split-level lakes connected by beautiful waterfalls. Architect John Fought designed the Players Course with a more traditional ambience. And if you’re looking for a great place to stay nearby, you can choose from the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa, Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa and Miramonte Indian Wells Resort & Spa, which all surround these two courses.

8 | The Lights at Indio Golf Course

The Lights at Indio is the only night-lighted golf course in the Coachella Valley and features a full-length driving range, chipping and putting greens, a short-game practice area and a completely stocked golf shop. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, their PGA staff can help you take your game to the next level. Oh, and they’re open for daytime tee times too.
