Whether you’re a seasoned veteran of the challenge or wrapping up your first attempt to ditch the drinks, let us be the first to say congratulations. But rather than simply rushing back to the wine aisle at Ralph’s or cracking open a case of your favorite light beer come Feb. 1, we enlisted the help of Glenfiddich ambassador David Allardice, a 10-year veteran of the whisky industry, to give us a few new ways to celebrate this February. Whether you are a long-time fan of the beverage or simply looking for a great introduction, read on to discover six whiskys and whisky cocktails to enjoy in 2022. Best Whisky Cocktails

1 | The Classic Highball

Recipe:

2 oz Glenfiddich 12 Year Old whiskey
4-6 oz of club soda or ginger ale

When it comes to whiskey, it is tough to beat a classic, so starting an evening affair with a simple whiskey highball featuring Glenfiddich’s award winning 12-year single malt scotch whiskey is a great way to elevate your tastes without venturing too far into the deep end. As Allardice notes, “The key to the highball is all about finding the right whiskey, and the classic 12 always works. The highball does a great job of taking that strong complex flavor profile and stretching it,” making it the perfect drink for those looking to dabble.

2 | The Old Fashioned

Featured Whiskey: Glenfiddich Bourbon Barrel Reserve 14 Year Old

Recipe:

1 ½ oz of Glenfiddich Bourbon Barrel Reserve 14 Year Old whiskey
1 sugar cube (or simple syrup)
2 dashes Angostura bitters

Moving from one classic to the next, the old fashioned is the ultimate whiskey cocktail. Simple, sweet, smoky and savory, this cocktail has been around since the 1800s—and for good reason. While typically poured with bourbon rather than scotch, Glenfiddich has crafted a special 14-year-old batch, “using bourbon barrels to age and influence the whiskey,” according to Allardice, making it the perfect substitute in this delicious drink.

3 | The 21-Year-Old Daiquiri

Featured Whiskey: Glenfiddich 21 Year Gran Reserva

Recipe:

2 oz Glenfiddich 21 Year Gran Reserva
3/4 oz lime juice
3/4 oz simple syrup

For the adventurous advocate, the 21-year old daiquiri is one of the best, most unique cocktails behind the bar. While typically made with rum, the Glenfiddich 21 Year Gran Reserva is the ultimate way to elevate the traditional daiquiri to new heights. “Finished in old Caribbean rum casks, the 21-year-old daiquiri is my go-to cocktail whenever I’m feeling boujee,” says Allardice. “It always surprises me.”

5 | Glenfiddich Grand Cru 23 Year Old

Hailed as the Cadillac of the Glenfiddich family, the 23-year Grand Cru is the perfect upscale addition to any home bar. Whether you are a collector or someone simply looking for a taste of the upper echelon, this whiskey is sure to impress. “Made with fine French wines in mind, the Grand Cru is finished in rare French oak barrels, making it the perfect bottle to pop on a special occasion,” Allardice explains.

Arguably Glenfiddich’s magnum opus, the Grande Couronne is the ideal bottle to add to any collection. “Aged for 24 years in American oak and sherry casks and then finished for two years in French cognac barrels,” Allardice says the Grande Couronne has layers of brown sugar and a hint of rich spice, giving it a depth of character perfectly suited for any elevated occasion.
