SoCal Favorite Board & Brew is Bringing Their Popular Turkado To Your City

For Board & Brew franchise owners Craig Applegate and Clayton Wheeler, the announcement of their sixth location (and the franchise’s 15th!) demonstrates that consistency really is key. Board & Brew is an SD sandwich staple, popular with families, athletes and business professionals.
While Encinitas natives Applegate and Wheeler describe the process of opening this new Oceanside location as “fun, challenging and exciting,” the culture of Board & Brew is deeply ingrained in both of them. They’ve grown up on its food since middle school. The customers, Applegate says, are like family. “I think of it as a modern-day ‘Cheers.’ Most sandwich places are grab-n-go, but we’d like the community to stay awhile.”
It’s this kind of attitude that keeps the restaurant hyper-focused on the local community. You’ll have plenty of space to mix ‘n’ mingle, as this location has been built from scratch. At just over 2,000 square feet, you can mosey about while still feeling like you’re just one of the gang. It’s a mom and pop vibe with 12 beers on tap and a garage door, turning the space into an indoor/outdoor bar. The lax atmosphere will encourage you to sip on cool, refreshing brews, admire local images from local photographers and get your grub on with one of the shop’s legendary sandwiches—secret sauce is a must!
Great food and great beers are a given, but what makes this upcoming location special is the fact that it’s in Oceanside. “Oceanside is Board & Brew and Board & Brew is Oceanside,” says Wheeler. “Lots of skate and surfboard pioneers have been born and bred in Oceanside. We get to be a part of those communities that have inspired our brand—in a way, it’s us giving back to the community.”
Board & Brew’s Oceanside location opens mid-September.
