Los Angeles to Amaze With the LA County Fair

Only California can give new meaning to the experience of a County Fair, which for most transplanted Midwest and East-Coasters conjures up memories of funnel cakes, cow pulling and Ferris wheels.
But this is Los Angeles—one of the most eclectic cities in the world. So in keeping with that tradition, of course, they’re hosting the most uniquely entertaining, cultural, scientific and just plain fun county fair theme park in the state.
Exciting events and simulations have been incorporated into the new LA County Fair through interactive displays and live experiences for every entertainment taste, like recreating the prehistoric lost worlds of Jurassic Park.
Don’t worry the usual stuff is still there: the Midway Rides and Circus is in town, parades and floats march on, the farm animals and petting zoo is open throughout, and your favorite revival bands are performing including: Chicago, The Isley brothers, as well as Country singer LeAnn Rimes and comedian Gabriel Iglesias.
One aspect of the fair that loyal goers anticipate each year are the insane foods served up! Jaws will drop and mouths will drool at the sight of the Fried Peanut Butter Pickle—a pickle stuffed with peanut butter, deep fried and drizzled with chocolate sauce—Bacon Fried Chicken and Deep Fried Pecan Pie. Your soul will thank you, your arteries will scold you—and it’ll be worth every bite…
Still—there’s so much more: an exotic Safari Zoo, Botanical Garden walks, fireworks of Artwork, and Historical Museum Exhibits of Trains Agriculture, Indian culture, our American Frontier Heritage, Sports, Princes & Kings, and an exhibition that helps you get to know you better titled ‘The Universe Within Our Bodies’.
It may be hot outside in LA amongst those lush palms, but ‘baby it’s cold inside’ at the IGLOO. This chilly arctic attraction is where you can glide and twirl on skates or take a thrilling sleigh ride down the Penguin Run on a real bank of snow.
So this September you’re sure to find whatever rocks your entertainment boat the most at the LA County Fair!
The Toyota End of Summer Concert Series will appear 16 nights of the Fair. All acts begin at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com. Fair admission is included in the price of paid concert tickets as well, making this a deal you can’t pass up. A limited number of free concert tickets are available at the ticket kiosk located on Rose Lane beginning at 2 p.m. concert days, first come first served.
