Join the Festive Celebrations at Heritage Hill Historical Park With Candlelight Walk and Holiday Lights This December
In Lake Forest, the holiday spirit is set to illuminate Heritage Hill Historical Park with two enchanting events: the 37th Annual Candlelight Walk and Holiday Lights. These back-to-back weekends in December promise a delightful journey through a winter wonderland, perfect for families and friends to celebrate the season’s joy.
A Stroll Through History with Candlelight
From December 8-10, from 5 to 9 p.m., Heritage Hill will host its cherished Candlelight Walk. This annual tradition, now in its 37th year, transforms the historical park into a festive spectacle. Visitors can meander through the beautifully decorated grounds and historical buildings, each adorned with holiday lights and decor, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The Candlelight Walk offers more than just visual splendor. Live musical performances will fill the air with holiday cheer, creating a soundtrack for an evening of yuletide joy. Kids can immerse themselves in holiday crafts, adding a touch of creativity to the celebration, while a visit from Santa Claus himself is sure to delight the young and young at heart. For those looking to indulge in seasonal treats, refreshments will be available for purchase.
Holiday Lights: A Festive Display
Continuing the festive spirit, OC Parks’ Holiday Lights event will take place from Dec. 15-17, also from 5 to 9 p.m. This event focuses on dazzling light displays, inviting visitors to wander through a maze of twinkling lights and enjoy various holiday-themed photo opportunities. It’s an Instagrammer’s paradise, with countless spots to capture the holiday season’s magic.
Pet owners will be pleased to know that furry friends can join in the fun, provided they are on leashes no longer than six feet. It’s a wonderful opportunity for the whole family, pets included, to soak in the holiday atmosphere. Unlike the Candlelight Walk, the Holiday Lights event will not feature additional entertainment or refreshments, offering a more relaxed and self-guided experience.
Celebrating Orange County’s Rich History
Orange County Board of Supervisors Chairman Donald P. Wagner expressed excitement for another year of family-friendly festivities. “The holiday season is the perfect time for friends and family to create wonderful memories and celebrate the rich history of Orange County,” he says.
Both holiday events at Heritage Hill Historical Park are free, including parking, making them accessible to everyone looking to indulge in holiday merriment. However, visitors should note that inclement weather may cancel the events.

Erik Hale is the visionary and publisher behind LOCALE Magazine. He launched the magazine in 2010, wanting to give the community of OC a premiere lifestyle magazine that knew all the native knowledge behind OC. “Six years ago Ashley and I sat at a table scratching the name LOCALE (among some other names) onto a sheet of paper,” says Erik, “coming up with story ideas and basically dreaming. Everything we imagined has happened and we have been blessed with so much more. I am so grateful as we start another year for my family, my two wonderful children, my health, our amazing writers, designers and photographers, our advertising partners and you.”
