At San Diego Comic Con 2018, Nickelodeon hosted a panel in anticipation of its new TV movie, Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus. Invader Zim gained a fanbase following its original run, and that fanbase remains even after the series’ end in 2004. Many fans have expressed interest in it’s return, and now that the movie is on the way, with a release date yet to be announced, here are reasons you do not want to miss out!

The Original Cast and Creator Are Returning
Fans don’t have to worry about a new cast and crew taking over because creator Jhonen Vasquez, Richard Horvitz (Zim), Rikki Simons (Gir), Wally Wingert (Almighty Tallest Red), Kevin Mcdonald (Almighty Tallest Purple), Melissa Fahn (Gaz) and Andy Berman (Dib) will return for the movie. Being back to work on this beloved show is exciting, and everyone agrees that the best part was getting to work with each other again. Horvitz said that being back “was like we had seen each yesterday when we came to the studio. It’s like we had never been gone.”
The Artwork
During the official panel, fans were treated to the artwork for the new movie. The designs are slightly different from the originals—Zim has visible teeth, the characters are less square and more rounded, and Dib and Gaz are darker to represent their Mexican heritage. These differences add to the characters and the world, and at the same time, they help the show retain the creepy, dark essence that made it so unique in the first place.
Zim VS Dib
One of the most exciting aspects of the original series is seeing what measures Zim will take to gain world domination and how Dib will stop him. Fans will want to see these two enemies battle it out, and find out if Zim will finally get what he wants!
Familiar Background Characters
Fans can expect to spot familiar minor characters throughout. Sadly, the big eyed Keef will only be in the background, but once fans spot him, they will have fond memories of the time he was Zim’s “bestest friend.” However, don’t expect all the minor characters to be silent. “There’s a Poonchy in there,” Vasquez revealed. “He’s the only kid who isn’t Zim, Dib or Gaz that has a line from the old show.” It will be exciting to see just what this line will be!
