Lo Bosworth is a pro in front of the camera, even if she doesn’t think so. “I’m not a model, I don’t know how to make this look natural,” she laughed as photographer Travis McCoy snapped away on the patio of Gracias Madre, our set for the LA November cover story. She may not be a model, but Bosworth’s natural golden glow made every shot look like second-nature, as if she’d been doing this her whole life.

In a way, she has. Since her start on “Laguna Beach” in high school, Bosworth was propelled into the entertainment industry and in front of the camera. Still, her humble hesitancy reflected what we’ve all come to love about Lo: her down-to-earth vibes that make her feel more like a friend you’ve known for years than a cover star you only met a couple hours before.

“Lo was so personable and engaging from the minute she walked on set,” said the hair and makeup artist, Chelsea Gehr, who kept Bosworth’s makeup natural with warm tones to complement her features. “She knows what she likes and that is all in the confidence she carries herself with—all the qualities of a true role model and business woman.”

Bosworth’s eagerness to be part of the creative process was a highlight for everyone on set. Wardrobe stylist Kaylee Jackson brought a vibrant selection of fall finds that Bosworth immediately snapped to post on her Instagram story. “Lo was hands-on during the entire shoot with helping to select the clothing and accessories for each look,” Jackson said. “It let her personal style shine through.”

With gorgeous shades of yellow, orange and pink, Bosworth made Gracias Madre’s already-beautiful monochrome backsplashes and brick walls come to life. “Lo can seriously rock any color,” Jackson continued. “I wanted each look to have a colorful, effortless California vibe, and she definitely nailed it!”

This was evident with every one of McCoy’s shots, even the testers. With his keen eye for photography, McCoy captured Bosworth’s refreshing and confident energy in every look. “Lo was amazing to photograph,” McCoy said. “She brought so much fun energy to the shoot.” That energy lasted throughout, from an early 7 a.m. call time to when the shoot ended four and a half hours later. Then, she was off to meetings for the rest of the day, channeling the #girlboss attitude that makes her the perfect cover star for our November issue.
