7 Boutiques in Joshua Tree That You Won’t Find Anywhere Else

Geneva of Cosmic American Shows Us Around Her Hood

Hi, I’m Geneva and I’m a desert rat. My family and I traded the modern conveniences of our bright, vibrant San Diego neighborhood to move to the unincorporated community of Joshua Tree a little more than two years ago and we haven’t looked back since. Some people might think Joshua Tree is in the middle of nowhere, but they’d be surprised how hip this town actually is. Since the area is home to so many creatives, we have got some seriously great shops to check out. Much like the area itself, they run the gamut from super cool to super quirky in the best possible way! Joshua Tree Shopping

Off the Beaten Path  Joshua Tree Shopping

Moon Wind is an eye-catching shop that you’ll need to venture off of the main highway to find. The shop showcases environmentally-friendly artists and practices. Even the shop itself is a little work of art and has lots of fun selfie locations, like the painted medallions that line the front walk, and a bed all made up in vintage textiles!

Build It and They Will Come

Shop on the Mesa is the showroom of mega-talented local furniture makers Fire on the Mesa. Even if you aren’t in the market for new furniture, it is definitely worth popping in to drool over their dreamy chairs and coffee tables. I love taking my time to browse all the treasures to be found in their light, airy space.

Just the Beginning  Joshua Tree Shopping

Located in Yucca Valley, this festive little shop is hard to miss with its eye-catching, bright murals, garlands of paper tassels and painted rocks festooning the front walk. I have found many vintage scores here over the years, but this time I was particularly enamored with the selection of vintage turquoise jewelry.

Clay-time  Joshua Tree Shopping

BKB is always on my list of must-visit places when my friends come to town. Owner and potter, Brian, makes all the magic happen! The different styles showcased at the shop have become synonymous with the modern desert style, so I truly feel that every desert lover should own at least one of his pieces.

We Want It All

This shop has a bit of everything to achieve maximum desert vibes, from more mainstream lines like P.F. Candle Co. and Minnetonka to more indie ones like The Wild Unknown. Oh yeah, and my husband highly recommends browsing their curated selection of vinyl.

So Retro

This eclectic little shop is a space that is cram-jammed full of desert treasures! Make sure to go out the back and check out their little courtyard, which sometimes has more gems and cacti to check out, too.

A Token to Remember You By

Coyote Corner has lots of traditional souvenir items like magnets and a great selection of desert books. If you’re camping in the park, definitely take note of this place because not only do they stock some camping supplies you may have forgotten, they also have a bank of showers that you can pay to use!
