The Huntington Beach Beer Festival Kicks Off on Aug. 26

Beach, bands and beer on a perfect summer day—are you in? We thought so! If it sounds like a great way to spend your Saturday, get ready for Huntington Beach Beer Festival on Aug. 26 from 1-5 p.m. Text your friends, call up Lyft, head towards PCH and Magnolia and prepare to get your drink on!
About 2,500 festival-goers are expected at Huntington State Beach. We’re talking a huge beach party. DJ duo Bass Punks will have you kicking off your flip-flops and dancing in the sand. Sublime tribute band 40 oz. to Freedom will be there to entertain you, as well as Red Hot Chili Peppers tribute band Righteous and the Wicked.
“It’ll be four hours straight of non-stop fun,” says Ryan Wieczorek, self-appointed “Director of Funk.” His team at Rock Star Beer Festival earned their chops throwing beer fests in Vegas. Now they direct “high energy, unorthodox” beer festivals on the West Coast.
To make sure the party’s kicking and the sounds are right, Ryan watches bands’ live shows before hiring them. He also helps choose the beers—best job ever?
“It’s summer on the beach so we’re looking at cool beers that fit the theme,” Ryan says. “Try Four Sons Brewing and Dudes Brew, which are both local SoCal breweries.”
If it sounds too fun to be true, let us also tell you that you’d be doing it for charity. Proceeds go to Beer Giving Back, which helps local nonprofits. “You’ll have a helluva good time, give money to a good cause and get exposed to new breweries,” Ryan says.
“We want people to show up in their swim shorts and bikinis, have fun and jump in the water,” he says. “We are straight in the sand, not the parking lot. We make it like a giant beach party. It’s a beach party vibe!”
