10 Ways to Live Like a Style Guru in La Jolla

Molly Rossettie of Hi Sweetheart Knows Her Stuff

La Jolla Boutique

Molly Rossettie is the owner of Hi Sweetheart Gift Boutique, a fun and creatively curated shop in the heart of La Jolla that we can’t help but flock to when in need of a little retail therapy or gift for any occasion. Plus Hi Sweetheart is celebrating its fourth year in La Jolla this March! Follow @hisweetslajolla for details about the shop’s Anniversary celebration. Rossettie knows a thing or two about style and living in La Jolla and was kind enough to share a few things she just can’t live without.

Rebecca Minkoff Nadia Sneaker

I love sneakers and these are my go-to pair for work right now. I’m standing most of the day and sometimes walk to the shop, so these are super comfortable and cute with jeans, a jumper or dress.

Glossier

I treated myself to a few Glossier products recently and loved them. They are light and bright, easy to apply. I always carry them in my bag for touch-ups during the day. The branding and packaging are on point, too.

Double Espresso Over Ice

I definitely need a caffeine boost to start my day. My go-to spot in La Jolla is just down the street from Hi Sweetheart. Sisters Carol and Aline Comenale own and operate this cute coffee cart on the corner of Wall St and Ivanhoe Ave. Strong coffee, The Cravory cookies, breakfast sandwiches, snacks and more.

Himitsu

Himitsu is our new go-to for dinner out in La Jolla. Grab a seat at the sushi bar with Chef Mitsu. Try the Shrimp Tempura Hand Roll, Kanpachi sushi and the Tasha Roll. If you order sake, you get to select your own pretty glass from their collection. It’s all in the details.

ban.do Tees

I carry a lot of ban.do products in the shop: notebooks, pool floats and water bottles. I just discovered their line of fun tees and sweatshirts. This is one of my favorites to pair with my galaxy sneakers and high-waisted L’AGENCE jeans from PINK LAGOON in Solana Beach.

Fresh Flowers

I always keep fresh flowers in the shop and at home. I love brightly colored roses, peonies, marigolds and freesia. We also just redid our backyard at home in La Jolla with the help of Lulu and Monty of McCullough Landscape. I’m counting the days to spring when everything they planted is in bloom and I can make my own bouquet for the shop!

My French Bulldog, Penny

My husband John and I have a seven-year-old, cream-colored French Bulldog, Penny. He is our baby. We commissioned local La Jolla artist Natalie Bessell to paint his portrait. It’s one of my favorite pieces of art we’ve collected so far.

Roxanne Assoulin Bracelets

My sister-in-law lives in Soho and gifted me a set of these enamel stretch bracelets from New York designer Roxanne Assoulin. They are brightly colored, stackable and go with everything! Perfect for summertime.

Catania Coastal Italian

One of the best views in La Jolla and delicious wood-fired pizzas, kale caesar salad and handmade pasta. Sit at the bar with Cesar and Chris. They make the perfect Negroni and give great hugs.

Sweetheart Necklace by THATCH Jewelry

I visited the THATCH’s Jewelry studio and showroom in Liberty Station recently and just had to buy their gold, script “sweetheart” necklace for myself. Thatch is female owned and operated and their jewelry is lovely; delicate and edgy all at the same time. I have my eye on a pair of their gold and topaz Harck Ear Crawlers.

Jonathan Adler

I love Jonathan Adler’s aesthetic—fun, brightly colored, quirky and functional. This is one of my favorite things I use in our house for candies and sweets.
