As soon as customers step into Creme & Sugar, a small and charming shop in Anaheim Hills that opened in November 2015, they are warmly greeted with a sweet and mouthwatering smell. They will also find comfortable couches, walls covered with framed photos of silhouettes, quotes from movies like Alice in Wonderland and Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory and a large chalkboard in the main entrance featuring a unicorn and rainbow mural.
Creme & Sugar is owned by Joanna Czikalla, who always wanted to own a shop. It was either that or become a rock star, and when the opportunity presented itself, she took it. She started out with things like coffee, ice cream, and cake—baked from a recipe that she got from her mother and grandmother, who Czikalla also credits her love of anything whimsical, for the inspiration of her menu and ideas. Having gone to Disneyland nearly every weekend when she was younger, she aims to take the fairy tale feel she adores and share it with her customers.
She does this with both her decor and menu, which features items such the Unicorn Hot Chocolate, which went viral and introduced Creme & Sugar to the internet, cakes, handcrafted shakes such as the Cookie Monster, Circus Animal, and of course, the Unicorn! It seems her customers like the whimsical theme just as much as she does because the unicorn-inspired items are by far the most popular.
Customers are especially drawn to the Unicorn Shake because of how aesthetically pleasing it is. Honoring the whimsical and fairy tale theme, the shake is served in a mason jar and consists of a cotton candy vanilla milkshake and is topped with whipped cream, sprinkles, marshmallows, candy bracelets, “unicorn horns” and “unicorn bacon.” With all these delectable ingredients coming together, customers will find the shake is as sweet and unique as it looks. To make the experience even more memorable, they can pair it with a thick slice of sweet and moist Unicorn Cake!

Tale as Old as Time: Creme & Sugar regularly updates its menus, and recently paid homage to Beauty and the Beast with Belle and Beast inspired shakes, cakes and cookies.
Sister, Sister: Another shop will open in the same plaza as Creme & Sugar called Sugar Gone Mad. It will be dedicated to both Alice in Wonderland and Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.
