Travel Is Back––And You Need a Trip to This Epic Montana Ranch

Transport Yourself to This Luxurious Ranch for the Adventure of a Lifetime

Imagine this: waking up to nothing but the sight of tall, green trees, riding horses through sage and next to rivers, devouring decadent meals made by Executive Chef Alison Beazley (formerly serving Napa Valley’s French Laundry), sipping whiskey by the fire, dipping into your private Jacuzzi and—most importantly—taking a deep breath of fresh air in the magical state of Montana. Look, a whole year without travel can only mean one thing: it’s time to go big and plan an epic trip. All-Inclusive Montana Ranch

The Resort at Paws Up is a luxurious ranch that epitomizes adventure, relaxation and everything in between. With direct flights (which are only about two hours) from San Diego, Orange County and Los Angeles, this destination is a seamless trip for a total change of scenery—an idyllic spot for your next vacation. Whether you consider yourself a nature-lover who likes to get down and dirty or you prefer a more luxurious type of getaway with spa treatments and fine dining, The Resort at Paws Up is a place that truly offers the best of both worlds. Owner Laurence Lipson says, “We truly want our guests to get reacquainted, reconnected and revitalized, and we customize itineraries for each visit with wilderness adventures and ways to relax that our guests won’t be able to find anywhere else.”

Cozy cabins, lavish glamping tents and an all-new addition of secluded tree houses are the three extraordinary choices available for accommodations. No matter the occasion—family vacations, reunions, couples retreats and honeymoons—all will find the perfect stay here. The 28 luxury homes are distanced within the trees, each with their own kitchen, Jacuzzi and panoramic views—not to mention a welcoming Western feel that makes you feel like it’s your very own cabin in the mountains. Guests also get a Lexus SUV to drive around the property; if you don’t feel like driving, simply send a message on the Paws Up app to be picked up and transported at your convenience.

Paws Up glamping opened back in 2005, and they coined the term right around the same time. The safari-style tents at Paws Up are like nothing you’ve ever seen. Six different camp locations exist, each with different but equally impressive views. This isn’t just camping, it’s glamping, which means multiple bedrooms in tents, heated bathroom floors, chandeliers—oh, and each tent gets their very own butler!

Last but not least is the green o, which opens on June 1. This is an intimate collection of 12 modern, luxurious houses with incredible architecture. This 21+ area of the property is secluded, sophisticated and sexy, making for an unparalleled experience for couples. “The juxtaposition of an architectural and design-forward property in a remote timberland setting really hasn’t been done in the US,” explains Lipson. “When coupled with exceptional service, cuisine and full access to everything Paws Up has to offer, it’s an experience unmatched by any other property in the world.”

Local Insight: The resort hosts a total of 270 guests when at full capacity, but oftentimes, it feels like you have the whole place to yourself (except for the wildlife you’ll spot!).

Paws Up is a family-owned resort set on 37,000 acres with over 100 hiking trails and 50 activities for guests. And in true Montana spirit, it’s even home to a working cattle ranch. No matter the season, find what suits your adrenaline. Everything from fly fishing and hot-air ballooning to dog sledding, guided hiking and ATVing, it’s guaranteed fun for all ages. The guides are extremely knowledgeable in each of the activities, making sure guests feel comfortable and safe in each excursion. Don’t skip out on Spa Town, where treatments are offered in one of the immaculate tents nestled in nature. The resort also has countless events throughout the year—think experiences with renowned chefs, wellness retreats and an epic Fourth of July celebration—giving you yet another reason to visit the property.

Local Insight: Lewis and Clark explored this area of Montana, and during the ATV excursion, you can stand on Lookout Point Rock where William Clark once stood.

Lodging, round-trip airfare transfers (from MSO) and three meals a day (including drinks) are included with each stay. From fine-dining and wine at Pomp to a breakfast delivery of huckleberry pancakes from Trough, the food is exquisite, using fresh ingredients that reflect the cuisine of the region. Sit back and relax as you dine with views of the vast, untouched land. And honestly, photos don’t do it justice until you’re actually there.

Local Insight: What’s a trip to Montana without cowboy boots and a hat? After you book your flight, stop by Boot Barn before your trip to pick up all your Western-wear essentials. Also be sure to pack a pair of boots that can get dirty, a swimsuit and sunscreen!
