This Special Art-Forward Performance and Fundraiser Shouldn’t Be Missed
Looking for a way to support local artists this month? OC-based professional dance company Emergent Dance Company will be hosting their inaugural 10.22.22 Gala, an art-forward performance and fundraiser that will consist of dance performances, an art gallery and a reception with refreshments at the stunning Rose Center Theater.
Audience members can arrive at 6:30 p.m. to enjoy refreshments and work by local artists in the lobby, then head into the theater at 7:00 p.m. for the show. Between the two acts, there will be an intermission where patrons can enjoy the gallery once again, and perhaps purchase some art if they fall in love with any of the pieces!
Prior to the pandemic, Emergent planned to host its very first full-evening performance back in October 2020, but as you well know, the world had other plans. Like many creatives, the company had to take a year off due to shutdowns, but they were able to bounce back—this time with more inspiration and determination to fulfill their pre-COVID goal.
“In many ways, this gala is a dream come true. Although this is Emergent’s ninth season, the gala will be the inaugural full-evening performance of all of the company’s repertory, a collection that spans eight years in the making,” Emergent Dance Company’s director, Megan Pulfer shares. “It’s my sincerest hope that this performance will establish Emergent Dance Company as a reputable presence in Orange County’s dance community while also inspiring other dancers and creatives who have struggled through the challenges faced during the pandemic.”
In addition to performances by Emergent Dance Company, the 10.22.22 Gala will also feature acclaimed LA-based performance company Laurie Sefton Creates (formerly Clairobscur) along with art from local artists, including SoCal-based Joyce Legate.
The evening will be presented by Emergent Dance Company and their fiscal sponsor Ballet Etudes, a non-profit youth ballet company that was established in Huntington Beach over 25 years ago. Emergent Dance Company was birthed from Ballet Etudes in 2014 to pay homage to the alumnae and teachers of Huntington Academy of Dance and to provide professional performance opportunities to dancers in the Orange County community.
The show has two ticket options: General Admission and VIP, the latter of which offers premium seating and a free book that commemorates the evening’s performances and artwork. Seating is limited, so reserve your seats today!
