9 New Year Resolutions to Keep All Year Long

Give Your 2023 a Healthy Start With These 9 Resolutions

It’s that time of year again—the time when ads for diets, gyms and workout equipment flood your social media feeds and inbox. Most of the time, momentum for our New Year’s resolutions can dwindle by March, but that’s certainly not for a lack of effort. Fortunately, there are plenty of health and wellness resolutions that can keep you feeling your best throughout the year. Whether you’re coming into 2023 with a “new year, new me” attitude or simply want to make self-love a priority, here are eight New Year’s resolutions that are attainable and worth keeping for an entire 12 months.

1 | Get Monthly Facials

Facial Lounge

Take the time to schedule a facial for yourself once a month—not only will it feel great to pamper yourself, but your skin will thank you! According to Orange County’s Facial Lounge, our skin regenerates naturally every 28 days. Monthly facials can help with aging, as they exfoliate old skin cells and make room for healthy cells to emerge. This can also help with large pores, blackheads, acne, discoloration and dehydration along with reaping more benefits from your at-home skincare regimen. For a real deal, sign up for Facial Lounge’s monthly membership (currently discounted from $185 to $145). Members also receive exclusive perks like 20% off Facial Lounge’s famous vegan skincare and services, including their radio-frequency tightening treatment.

3 | Focus on Gut Health

Our gut health is central to our overall health. Not only can it help prevent sickness and disease throughout the body, but improved gut health is connected to better mood, improved cognitive function and healthier appearance. There are many ways to address a healthier gut biome, and Fermentation Farm offers food, drinks and other products to help you get started. Some of our favorite housemade menu items include kombucha, bone broth, daikon kimchi and the Master Tonic. Want to learn more? Fermentation Farm also offers monthly classes and a booklet on how to create your own Coconut Zingy Yogurt at home.

4 | Update Your Skincare Routine

Getting tired of your existing skincare routine? There’s no better way to start the new year fresh than by swapping your cleansers, moisturizers and serums with ones that are more effective and made with non-toxic, pregnancy-safe and vegan ingredients. Facial Lounge has an entire skincare line that’ll help you reach your skin goals, and out of those products, we highly recommend their Facial in a Bottle duo for day and night. Night is a time-release formula that releases lactic and glycolic acids that deeply exfoliate your skin—perfect for reducing large pores, evening skin tone and reducing signs of aging. This exfoliation preps your skin to absorb all the antioxidants, nutrients and vitamins C and E from the Day serum, which brightens and repairs sun damage and pigmentation.

5 | Try Lymphatic Drainage

Mizokami ACSL Massage Therapy

We’ve seen a recent uptick in gua sha techniques on social media, which shines a light on one of our body’s important systems that can sometimes be forgotten: our lymphatic system. The lymphatic system helps keep our tissues healthy and working properly—along with supporting a healthy immune response. There are many ways to approach lymphatic drainage to help keep this system working properly, but to get started, we recommend looking into a practice that offers the Mizokami Advanced Circulatory Sports Lymphatic (MACSL) technique. This process combines elements of lymphatic massage, physical therapy and circulatory massage and can offer full-body health benefits.

9 | Limit Your Screen Time

We had to throw this in here! Sure, it’s not as fun as pampering yourself with a facial or massage, but limiting screen time is a healthy habit worth keeping. It can be tough to kickstart this resolution, so begin with setting your phone to “do not disturb” or setting specific times when you won’t use your phone. Go sit at your favorite coffee shop and people-watch, take a hike along Crystal Cove and enjoy the ocean breeze—there are so many fun and beautiful things to enjoy that are totally screen-free.
