“The appetite for more choices is much higher [these days],” says Pirch Vice President of Marketing Gene Hodges. The possibilities for details like cabinet hardware, faucets and shower heads are seemingly endless. Far surpassing your typical array of gold or chrome drawer pulls and sink fixtures, the hardware display is a veritable feast for the eyes, featuring every kind of color, material and finish. These range from sleek and contemporary fixtures to vintage 1920s touches and come in a rainbow of mixed metals, matte finishes and unique candy-coated pastel shades.
Snazzy Appliances
“A lot of people who have butler kitchens are now using that space for a beverage center,” says Hodges, “or they’re [putting one] in the great room or even a small one in a master suite—someplace away from the kitchen.” With all the trappings of a traditional wet bar, such as a dedicated sink, dishwasher and mini wine fridge, the beverage bar trend has expanded to include coffee accouterments and options for storing and displaying beer and wine.
Local Insight: According to Hodges, a few recent home trends include pizza ovens, in-home dry cleaning and self-cleaning smart toilets as well as unique aesthetic choices like leather-bound appliances.

Among the impressive bathroom features (like showstopping jetted soaker tubs and sauna/steam room set-ups) is a full marble wall display of shower heads. Outdoor spaces are getting a major upgrade since it’s one of the aspects of daily life that we’ve shifted towards during the Covid era. “People who might have in the past bought just a grill are now doing an entire outdoor kitchen,” says Hodges. “In Southern California, there’s a year-round opportunity to use outdoor space, and especially in these pandemic times, I think people are saying, ‘I want to have this space where I’m not jeopardizing anyone’s health.” Expect to find everything imaginable for outdoor entertaining, from stove tops to beverage dispensers.

Live Demonstrations
At the new Mission Viejo showroom, Pirch chefs will be offering live cooking demos by whipping up dishes in the store’s al fresco space. With 12 different grill manufacturers to choose from, a live demonstration is the perfect way to get a sense of how each appliance works. “We even have people come in who bought appliances two or three years ago,” Hodges says, “that come back and say, ‘I bought this steam oven, but I’ve never used it; would you show me how it works?’”
