1 | Catalan Mediterranean Cuisine

Impress your date with grade A tapas at Catalan Mediterranean Cuisine. Here, local art hangs on the brightly colored walls, and delicious plates of tapas grace the tables. Settle in at the bar for all-you-can-eat tapas Wednesday through Friday and find out how good your date really is at sharing. Or, share a more ‘proper’ romantic meal and order full plates for dinner. Try the Paella Mixta—their take on classic paella featuring chorizo, chicken, shrimp and clams. Or order the Roasted Jidori Chicken, served with spring carrots and salsa verde.

2 | Lord Fletcher’s Rancho Mirage Restaurants

Lord Fletcher’s transports you and your date to a cozy English inn with delicious fare. For over 50 years, the dark wood walls decorated with bric-a-brac, art and antiques have given the restaurant the feeling of a true English inn plopped right onto Restaurant Row. For an intimate setting, ask to sit in the Shakespeare Room with its 200-year-old etching depicting Shakespearean plays, then impress your date with that sonnet you just memorized. For dinner, order the Roast Prime Rib of Beef served with Yorkshire Pudding and Cream Spinach, or, if you’re dining on a Friday, opt for the Salmon from Scotland—fresh salmon served with hollandaise sauce, steamed vegetables and rice pilaf. To drink, ales and droughts are the way to go at Lord Fletcher’s Inn, and the English Rice Pudding perfectly punctuates the meal for you and your sweetie.

Native Knowledge: At 5 p.m., the pub opens for cocktails and more casual bites. Pop in for a lively experience and menu options like prime rib sliders and potato pancakes. Be sure to check out the large collection of Toby mugs.

4 | Babe’s Bar-B-Que & Brewhouse Rancho Mirage Restaurants

Housemade microbrews and down-home barbecue will have you and your bae coming back again and again to Babe’s Bar-B-Que & Brewhouse. Since its opening in 2002, Babe’s has been wowing guests with its delicious menu and unique drinks. A laid back but classy atmosphere greets guests when they walk in; high wooden ceilings and warm colors put you at ease. Get messy and order a rack of baby back ribs marinated overnight in a Memphis dry rub, smoked for four hours over hickory and pecan wood and then served wet or dry with two sides. If ribs aren’t your thing, opt for the Tri-Tip Omar, smoked tri-tip topped with Chef Omar’s mushroom peppercorn sauce. As the only microbrewery in Rancho Mirage, you have to order one of the house-brewed ales to go with your meal. The Honey Blond Ale is an award-winner and perfectly refreshing.

Native Knowledge: Take a tour of the brewery! From December through June, guests can tour around and learn about the custom JV Northwest 10 bbl brew system, and the functioning malt silo that stands next to the restaurant entrance. Check their website for availability.
