I’m Nikki Prendergast, a fashion and lifestyle blogger now splitting time between Huntington Beach and Palm Springs. My husband and I have been escaping to the desert for as long as I can remember, and since buying a home in Palm Springs in 2017, we’ve made it our mission to explore all that the area has to offer. We love the midcentury-modern vibes, the desert views, the restaurants, shops and the fact that we can bring along our vizsla pups, Weeze and Wilma, to so many places. This time, I’m sneaking off to El Paseo in Palm Desert, located in the middle of the Coachella Valley, for some shopping, dining and maybe a little pampering.

Savory Spice Shop

This place is seriously a treat for the senses. With jars and jars of spices, herbs and blends that you’re invited to see, smell and taste before buying, there’s something for everyone, from the spice connoisseur to the newbie like me. It’s also the best place to stock up on little hostess gifts to keep on hand throughout the year.

Blonde Clothing Boutique

For a boutique lover like myself, Blonde is a must-stop. It’s an adorably-curated shop with killer denim, one-of-a-kind pieces, loungewear you’ll want to live in, beautiful jewelry and a whole wall of candles that were begging to come home with me. While you’re there, don’t forget to check out the upstairs loft that’s filled with unique gifts and home finds.

Candice Held

This one was a new one for me, but holy silks! It’s seriously the store of my resort-lifestyle dreams. Inspired by the timeless silk scarf and stocked with the most beautiful scarves, caftans, vintage sunglasses, midcentury-style jewelry and more, Candice Held screams Palm Springs luxe. If you’ve got a thing for vintage style, bold colors or animal prints, this is your spot.

AC3 Restaurant + Bar

After a morning of shopping, a gal’s gotta eat! Located inside Hotel Paseo, AC3 is a bright and colorful restaurant primed for Instagram posting. Not to worry though, because she’s more than just a pretty face. The food here is oh so good. Go for the AC3 Burger or the Grilled Salmon Bowl served with coconut rice—so yum. And you might as well round things out with one of their craft cocktails, right?

The Body Deli

There’s nothing I love more than a good juice bar, and The Body Deli is like a juice bar for your face, hair and body. The Sea Cucumber Gelee feels so moisturizing, and the Glacial Ice Lip Gloss is amazing. The products are hand-crafted in small batches daily and contain raw, fresh ingredients—so fresh that many products are refrigerated.

Oliver Peoples

Because no Palm Springs look is complete without the perfect shades, Oliver Peoples was next up. Stop in and prepare to be wowed—they’ve got a crazy good selection for men and women and the most beautiful showroom to boot. Their delicate square aviators are currently at the top of my spring wishlist.

All Tressed Up Blowdry & Beauty Bar

Call me crazy, but a good blowout can really make my day. It’s also the best way to transition from a day of shopping to dinner or a night out in the desert. One scalp massage and a fresh mane later, I was feeling brand new. If you’re feeling like getting all dolled up, they also offer makeup applications and full brow maintenance.

La Fe Wine Bar

After you shop ‘til you drop, pick yourself right back up with a little vino and cheese-o at Le Fe Wine Bar. It’s a cozy little spot with a big selection of wines and friendly staff that just might help melt any buyer’s remorse away. If you’re craving a little more than cheese, I’ve heard the empanadas and mushroom truffle flatbread are totally worth trying.

Native Knowledge: At the Savory Spice Shop, the Chicharron Salt is made with real pork rinds and is the perfect companion for both sweet and savory foods.

Stay and Play: Located in the heart of Palm Desert, Hotel Paseo offers beautifully designed rooms, an on-property spa and pool, and is easy accessibility to El Paseo shops and restaurants. If you’re visiting the desert, Hotel Paseo is a great stay and play option.

One Stylish Family: Blonde Clothing Boutique has been family-owned and operated since their opening in 2001. They know their stuff as they offer some of the most stylish looks in the desert from brands like Moussy, Citizens of Humanity and Michael Stars.
